I think a lot of you heard about my busted rocker arm due to a missed shift. I replaced that today, and the car wouldn't start. It poped once and that was all I got out of it. I pulled the valve cover back off and checked the timing marks (motor on TDC and dowel pins on the cams at 10 and 12 o'clock). I tried again and it turnned over kinda slow. I checked the timing again and turnned it over by hand to check the valve/rocker/spring opperation. Then I hit the starter again and it didn't sound like it had any compression.
So I pulled the cams back out and re-aligned everything and tried it again. No compression, not even a little bit, in all 4 cylinders.
I tried a compression gauge, nothingI tried to turn it over by hand and listen for blowby through an open valve, nothingI cranked it and listened for air escaping from the intake manifold through the throttle body, nothing
The really strange part is that after I broke the rocker I was about 60 miles from home. So I drove it home... it ran fine, idled a little bit high and was a bit rough. I even stoped for gas and looked the car over for a few min. After I was done it started right up.
So my question is what happened? If it was bent valves (in all 4 cylinders) why did it run so nice before, and if it was a blown HG why isn't there any oil in the water or water in the oil?
I also checked and the pistons to see if they were still there heh
I can turn the motor over by hand pretty freely (it feels a bit stiff for having no compression)
The rocker that broke was the number 2 one on the intake side (it just fell out of the way and didn't tear anything else up in the head).
I guess that's about it, if you need more info let me know, and if you have any ideas let me know. I'm gonna try to pump air into the cylinders tomorrow and see what happens.
