sr front cover

the front cover on my blacktop is cracked and leaks a small amount of oil. i can get a new pump/cover for 199 or just the cover for 59(i would switch in my pump). i have awesome oil pressure so i know the pump is good but what is everyones opinion on this

Just switch over your pump and save 140 dollars.

im pulling it anyways to do the head gasket, studs and z transmission swap. im just thinking why not just switch pumps and save money

The reason you may want to consider getting a whole new pump with the assembly is that if you buy a used cover minus pump, the new cover may not have as tight of tolerances as the old cover.

If you do decide to go with a used cover, double check the clearances. Any pump I've seen with issues, it's usually the tolerance of the pump gears themselves, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

You oil pump is about 17 years old by now if its never been replaced.

Buy a new one
