For engine oil you should use something cheap at first and change it after 500 miles. transmission fluid and coolant can be some good stuff.

For transmission fluid a lot of people like redline products.

Mobil 1 Syn Gear oil in the open diff = OK. Mobil 1 Syn Gear oil in your transmission = No No. The m1 syn is a GL-5 oil, whereas our transmissions need a GL-4 oil, because it's safe for our brass synchros. That's why most people use the Redline MT-90.

The fram filter is junk. Do yourself a favor and get anything else. You can use just about any generic coolant out there and it will do the job.

As far as a weight for oil, you could probably go many different ways with no problems. 5w30, 10w30, 10w40, 0w40. If it's really hot in your area, maybe a 15w50. Use the search button. There's plenty of oil related threads in this forum.

Engine Mobil1 15w50 full Syn FTW!!! I have tried Redline and Royal Purple and Mobil1 seems to be the secret ingredient for SR's. Still want to try AMSOIL....I posted awile back about tests on different oils and AMSOIL was number one on all tests. OIL Filter Mobil1 (M1013...I think)FTW (are we noticing a trend here)!!!!transmission Went with Redline, but I am convinced it runs too hot (shift boot leather balloons up, will change and try Royal Purple soon), but it's not that bad, very smooth.VLSD Redline heavy duty shock proof mt-90, has been over 9 months since I swapped in a VLSD with the NISMO gearing (4.4:1). I am convinced that Redline is the greatest thing you can do for any Viscous LSD. Works exactly like an LSD should.

Engine - 10w30 Mobil One Full Synthetic. I used to use 15w50 but heard of a few people having oil pickup issues so i switched and been using 10w30 ever since.

Trans - Redline MTL

Rear - Kaaz Hypoid (Nismo 2 Way)

I use

Royal Purple 10-30 in the engine with a OEM Nissan filter. In the transmission Redline MT-90 And the diff gets Redline oil too.

I also run Redline Waterwetter in the coolant and water mix.

15w-50 does have pickup issues, my first SR developed rod knock due to this as I cannot think of any other way it could have happened. (Car was in cali then)

Now its in Colorado I run:

10w-40 Royal Purple in summer (can get hot here, hence the 40 instead of 30)5w-30 Royal Purple in winter (need the thinner oil for those cold starts)

OEM Nissan/Mobil 1/K&N oil filter...whatever is more available to me at the time.

Royal Purple 75w-90 for the transmission

Valvoline 75w-90 for the diff. (Open)

Im looking for something a little thicker for the transmission as its old and is starting to grind a little, how does MT-90 compare to RP? is there something more recommended for older trannys?
