Wow...... I finally got my car back tonight. It has taken forever but i actually drove it home. Not even being able to get on it, it hauls.... First problem that i have kinda solved but need to take it back is the hotpipe pops off when ever i boost. I think that the silicon coupler is just to short, so i need a new one. That not a big deal.. The big deal is the car boosts way to much. I have a profec b installed, but even with it off, i got on it once and it went up to 20 pounds. The installation was checked on the profec b, and its all right, so i am being told now that the actuator/wastegate is bad on the turbo and is stuck open. Is this probably the case? and my last major question is my car will not go over 115 km/h. I have the sr speed sensor in the transmission still but once i my speedo get to 115, which is like 71 mph the car does go ne faster. Is that because i have the wrong speed sensor? and i am hiting the factory speed cut? and will the greddy speed cut controller take care of it? I am pre thanking you guys for all the help, and if you have ne other questions about my setup that will lead in helping, please ask. Thanks alot, Chris

Sorry i cant help with the other issues.

Yea, i am aware that that will make my car read in mph instead of km/h but i did a manual conversion so i dont have the us speed sensor unless they are the same for a automatic tranns, and a sr trans... Are they? Thank you though

1 more quick question.. When i get a vss, should i get one for a usdm s13? or s14? or is the automatic one the same and will fit in the sr transmission? Thank, Chris

hehehe, 115 * .62 = 71.3

Try hooking your wastegate up directly. If you stop boosting 20 psi, then you know the problem is the profec b.

I do not know about Auto vs. Manual speed sensor. However I do not *think* S14 vs. S13 speed sensor makes a difference ( I say this, BC the S13 motor can go into the S14 chassy and read correctly) Unless those people are swapping S14 sensors into S13 trannys ??

From srswap.com 's website:

3. Remove the SR speed sensor and replace it with the KA one. The speed sensor is located on the end of the transmission, towards the passenger bottom part. It looks like a little cylinder that has a black wire coming out if it. It is pretty large compared to other sensors. It is held in place by one Phillips/10mm bolt. Use a thin walled socket or a screw driver to remove the bolt and yank the sensor right out. It has a red gear on it, just for reference. The SR speed sensor is calibrated for km/h whereas US one is in MPH. So take you KA sensor out and install it into your SR, making sure that you are not damaging the sensor wire.

Update: both S13 speed sensors are the same JDM or KA, we have interchanged many of them. If it fits and has a red gear it will work.

What about the swap into a s14 chassis..? Will you have to use the s14 KA speed sensor and swap it onto the s13 SR transmission?

THanks!

I was aware that i needed the speed sensor, but i guess my questions was that what was making the speed cut kick in, and it was. Now that that was fixed, and we unfroze the wastegate on the turbo, hooked up the profec b right it boosts what its supposed to. Wow i love this car, but 118 comes way to quick. My only problem now is the car overheats if i dont have the heat on. I have no thermostat in the car, the radiator has been flushed to check for clogs, and were pretty sure its the water pump. Which is going to be warrantied out for me as soon as i get the car back in the shop. Thank you guys for the help. Ps Sr's kick ***. At stock boost it stays with my friend wrx that runs 13.5's. He will beat me off the line, mainly cause i dont want to start launching on my new clutch yet, but once i turn the boost up, i will beat him. I am at work right now, so happy looking out in the parking lot and seeing my red 240, that is So much fun to drive, i forgot what its like. Thanks, Chris

did you swap out the temp sensor for both the gauge and ECU ? the SR sensor will make the car read hot! use a USDM set of coolant senders!

is this correct guys?

Are you using the Stock KA Radiator? Cause it doesnt really cool very efficiently with the SR. It can work but in the summer it doesnt do well. If the water pump doesnt fix it and maybe even if it kinda does you should think about getting a new radiator and fan set.

never heard of that, is this true? where is the temp sensor? isn't it kind of attached to the lower radiator hose? since I have done my swap my temp reads at about the 4th bar on my temp gauge, which worries me a bit.

Well my fun lastest all of a day and a half. Yesterday at around 7 pm, drivng around my car starts making a loud knocking noise from the transmission. We are pretty sure that the clucth shattered and seeing that i only have like 100 miles on it, act better warranty it. If it broke just driving around, what would happen the first time i went to the track? Well time will only tell what is actually wrong, or if any damage was done to the transmission, but thanks for all the help, and i will keep everyone posted as i find out what happened. Thanks, Chris

Temp sensor from SR engine works fine with KA dash & gauges.

Well the main reason i think it is the clucth is when the clutch pedal is pushed in, the noise goes away..... Even if the car is in nuetral and the clutch is released te car still makes noise. The car will also start moving if i engage it into first, will move about 5 feet, then stop real hard on its own and want to go backwards... I am in no way an expert on trannys so i dont know what is going on, but everyone i talk to says that it sounds like the clutch shattered. They also say that act has been sending out alot of defective clutches latlely... Thanks, Chris

Ps, even though i only drove it for a day and a half, it hauls ***, and was fun.... Cant wait to hit 14 psi, and get the greddy speed cut.. 118 mph comes really fast in the car.
