Got my swap to the point where I could start it (nervous as hell). It seems to fire on one cylinder, but won't catch. CAS is timed right, I tried playing with the timing I thought it would be a good stopping point for the night, so I really didn't do any testing. Smells kinda rich and the tach seems like it's not working. Going to bed, hoping that when I wake up around 1pm tomorrow you guys will have made a list of some stuff to check so I can drive my silvia home.

Also, what do those solenoids on the ignitor bracket do? I don't have them connected to vaccum. Can I throw them away? Thanks.:ylsuper

Fires on one cyl? Bet its either #4 or $1 (dont remmber at 3:30 am.. but i think its #4)

this is caused by an ECU incompatiblity. You probably have either a Type X ecu or a Type X harness. I think Heavy Throttle can tell you how to rewire it.. if that is in-fact the problem.

You may be right. I only get spark on #1, fuel pump runs whenever the ignition is on, and it doesn't look like there is a tach signal.

your tach signal is probably burnt. what ecu do you have and what motor do you have installed? You smell fuel so it could be that you may have leaky injectors as well. Maybe bad coil packs. Do a cold compression test to see if all the numbers come up about the same in each cylinder.

Sorry to hear that. Checkout the link in my info, I have a list of ECUS that will work with redtop/blacktop SR's

You should give me the info on that GTI-R ECU so i can add it to my list.

The motor will still start with out the tach signal even if its burned out. The solenoids next to the ignitor are for the air injection and boost control solenoid. Unless you have a boost controller I would suggest running the stock solenoid.
