I'm finished with my SR swap into my 89' coupe. But it won't start. It has no electrical power whatsoever, so obiviously i messed up in the wiring somewhere. I used the entire SR wiring out of my clip other than the dash everything is from the SR fuse boxes and all the wiring that runs in front of the radiator. I've been checking the wiring faq's but i'm getting confused b/c it seems like everyone is using alot of the ka wiring. The three wires that run up behind the stock batter location Would this apply to me since i used the SR's wiring for the battery?

Where did i go wrong? any input will help. My only thought is to get and electrical tester and see where the circuit is broken, it'll just take some time but before I start i wanted to make sure that i actually used the correct wiring.

thanks

i haven't heard much about what you're supposed to do if you use all the sr20 wiring..... did you rearrange the wiring from the ecu up into the dash.... if you've got nothing at all..... this is prob. what itis...

man it sounds like you have no clue what you're doing. read the http://www.srswap.com faq on wiring and if you can't figure it out from that then take it to a shop and don't risk damaging your ECU, igniter, or other engine related electronics. you have to do a good bit of rewiring in those plugs as well as extending the MAFS and O2 sensor wires (re-using shielded wire from the KA harness) and it sounds like you didn't do any of this.

If I were you, I would pull the whole thing out again and just send it to Heavy Throttle for the wiring service. You are guarenteed a turn key start (If all the other work has been completed correctly) and you wont' have all the headaches of trying to figure it all out, which I know you probably have a migraine by now :pface It's costs a bit more, but if you can afford I would definately do it. It'll provide you with that confidence that nothing will catch on fire, burn out, or blow because of the wiring that YOU did.

Yes i already extended the neccessary wires maf, 02 etc; but i'm thinking my problem might be coming from me using the sr wiring completely rather than making SR/KA harness. But then again my problems might lie elsewhere something as simple as a bad ground but before i go checking every connection on the car or start over completely i just want to make sure it is possilbe to use all SR wiring with KA dash and JDM gauge cluster

And the reason i decided to use the entire SR wiring was because i bought my car with a blown motor and it had sat in a junkyard for awhile and lots of things were missing from the KA, wiring cut in places fuse boxes gone etc;

did you rewire the plugs behind the battery? if you did the MAF extension and the O2 extension with shielded wire, and got the ignitor wiring right (i didn't need to extend any of those, just relocated the Igniter mounting), then the last part is the rewiring on the two plugs behind the battery tray. srswap.com has the instructions in case you need them.

So i do still have to rewire the wires that run up behind the stock battery location? I guess thats what i'm trying to ask about me using none of the ka harness. thanks

There is your problem, sounds like you just plugged the SR harness into the KA by the battery with out re-wiring the 2 plugs. They plug in but the pins do not line up, re-wire it like in the diagram on our site. Hopefully that is all that is needed.

i understand that you used the jdm engine harness as wellas the jdm chassis harness....... you basically need to ignore the connnections between the two jdm harnesses because they are correct if you didn't mess w them.... what you need to check now (btwn the jdm and us fsm) i swhere the jdm chassis harness interfaces with anything usdm...... does that make sense?
