Allright, we got the SR fired up today. Several problems are as follows:

1. Speedometer reads way faster than it should...probably need the KA speed sensor right?

2. Temp. gauge says that I'm overheating, but I dont think that I am. No bubbling in coolant overfolw tank, no extreme under hood temperatures, even after driving...hmmm...

3. In first gear at about 4,500 RPM's, and agian in second and thir gears at about 4,000 RPM's, I hit fuel cut for some reason. This seems to happen right as the turbo is really starting to spool. I don't have a clue about this...sounds and feels like when you hit speed governor, but at lower speeds and in every gear..(I didn't try really taking it past third.

4. After driving, I noticed that a small amount of what seems to be oil spit out of my blow off valve. (I have a Blitz SSDD)...The guys at Sound Performance said it could either be blowby, or a problem with the turbo. Sound right to anyone??

Sorry for the long post but any help GREATLY appreciated.

That's wierd about the fuel cut off at 4500 rpms.. I was experiencing the same problem when I had the KA in my 90'. I figured it was something screwy with the ECU but never figured out what it quite was since it was like that when I bought the car. The speedometer was also a bit fast, about 5-8 mph at around 70.. but not too noticeable. Anyways, when I did my SR swap, the limiter was returned to normal and everything was fine..

Well u definately need the speed sensor from the KA, it reads MPH while the j-spec sr20det sensor read KPH so swap those and you'll be all set there.....

as for the temp gague i have no idea sounds like the gauge is failing or its a bad sensor

As for fuel cut......like the last guy said u need an aftermarket fuel pump the stock one depending on the condition of it sometimes can support the stock sr20det demand for fuel but in a lot of cases they are old and can't......especially with an increase in boost it will definately starve the engine.........

Oil out the BOV.......kinda sounds like a turbo problem......i really don't know how else oil can get in the intercooler piping.......

I believe most of your problems are easy to fix. The oil thru the bov is no good. Did you inspect the turbo before you put it together(the motor)? What sr set up do you have such as car, year, s13-s14-s15 motor, what computer, harness, etc? It sounds like you have an s14 chasis with an s13 red/black top. If you are using the s-14 harness with the red top you will have to use the ka water temp sensor. The fuel cut could actually be the wrong computer or boost leak/vacuum somewhere in the lines or I.C. pipes. I wanna say someone had that same problem but it was the wrong computer though. On the speed sensor, how much faster? It is the speed sensor I beleive. Do you notice any burning oil smell coming out of the exhaust? If you have bad seals on your turbo then it will do this. If its bad rings it has a different oil smell. A bad turbo smells like you took a quart of oil and poured it on the mannifold. You'll see more input from everyone else later so you will have all of the info you need to figure everything out. Your main problem is the oil outta the bov. Everything else is simple. Good Luck.

I can almost guarantee that your fuel cut problem at 4500rpms is related to your MAFS, check that out.

Mine was having the same problems and I cleaned the terminals and now it works fine.

Allright here's what I can respond with so far:

I already have a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump.

I inspected the turbo before I installed the engine, spun freely, no shaft play, no sound like therer was dirt or debris or anything like that.

As for 240_Keyy's response, the clip on the MAFS plug is broken, but it stil stays on pretty tightly.

By the way, I have a '95 240SX SE, an S13 Blacktop, and Heavy Throttle did the harness service.

seriously dude, check that plug! it really sounds like a MAFS problem to me, especially since you say it screws up when it finally starts spooling...

Ya you have a point. Mine did the same thing until I fixed the wiring and cleaned the element using electrical sparay s***. Take your oil cap off and see how much air is pushing out. Is your pcv valve routed back in between your maf and turbo? You might have alot of excessive blow by causing the oil to travel thru the turbo into the I.C. piping. possibility.

Ok, figured out the problem with the blow-off valve, turned out that the small power steering leak I had was spraying up onto the hot pipe, and when the blow off valve blew off, it just pushed it so it looked like it was coming out of the blow off valve. I replaced the gaskets on the power steering hoses, and the problem is gone.

As for what I thought was a fuel cut, I don't think it is anymore. I get some hesitation at high RPM's, but it will drive right through it if I keep my foot on the gas. Think I may have a small boost leak?? Feels like it to me. Im going to silicone all my intercooler pipe connections and see if that helps...If that doesn't work I will definately check the MAFS.

As for the rev limiter...I completely disconnected the speed sensor and the problem is gone...anyone know where I can get a KA sensor for relatively cheap??

Thanks again for the quick responses.Zack

Ok, here's what I've found...I had a tube run from the crank case ventialtor on the valve cover back down to the rubber intake tube...well I found that the line was kinked...(which would make sense why I was only getting hesitation at high RPM's), so I disconnected the line and let it breat freely, and wala! Problem was gone...but now (a day later) I have a similar problem, but not as bad...so I tightened the blow off valve a bit hoping it would help if there was a small boost leak at high revs...and it did help a little, but there still is a small hesitaiton up top...what the hell could this be???

Fuel fileter is a brand new 300ZX TT filter, plugs are all in good shape, gapped, and clean, not sure...maybe MAFS?

I changed my water temp sensor to Ka sensor......It did not solve my gauge reading high problem.....

If you solve yours let me know...

Say I was wondering if your still having the temp issues. I am currently having the gauge issues with all the same symptoms. Gauge says hot when I'm on the highway but never in town. I don't boil over and the car still runs strong. I have put a bis a$$ dual fan and a two row 300Z Twin Turbo raditor in my car and I still have the same issues. It has been suggested from a local performance shop to put the two KA temp sensors in place of my SR sensors. We shall see.

Oh I am having an after market temp gauge installed next tuesday and I will let you know what it reads.
