Hi all,Just recently got an S13 SR swapped into my S14 . It starts up and runs fine and will rev freely in neutral . But in 1st gear it will rev to 4000 and then die ( no more power , sputters but doesnt go any higher) and each gear it gets lower ( 3500 in second , etc).

I have a walbro fuel pump , fmic and an HKS bov just for FYI.

Im thinking it could be MAF or CAS related?

ANY help would be appreciated!

Maf or boost leak.

So would the maf not effect idle or when it revs in neutral? Would a boost leak do this too?

I'd be looking for boost leaks first, 4000rpm is where you would start having a few psi pushing things past couplers. Maf might be dirty and not reading right, which would be an issue when there is a lot more air moving past it.

I tried a new maf and still nothing . I think i have a big exhaust leak near the manifold or turbo .. would that do it as well?

A boost leak would make sense I guess .. i have to pick up a boost gauge and find out..

Could it be fuel pressure related ? I just find it really weird that it revs so free in neutral and absolutly dies at 4K.

I need some advice!

That's when you start making any decent boost. Just revving you might make a few psi but won't hit full boost where you would have a leak.

Check your speedometer ant tach wires make sure there not touching it could have something to do with your speed cut since it gradually gets lower as gears get higher ......???? Just an idea G/L

I hope its not that as Taylor Durdan did my wiring harness for me

no, that has nothing to do with this problem. you need to check a few things out.

1) make sure you have good spark plugs. i recommend NGK BKR6E gapped to 0.028"

2) make sure that the rubber tube that goes from the MAF to the turbo has its spring inside. i have seen several without them, and as the motor demands more air, that tube actually sucks shut and cuts off airflow to the turbo

3) check all intercooler connections to ensure that there is no boost leak. does it smoke straight black when this problem occurs? it could be that youre blowing out all the air that the MAF has already accounted for and is causing a severe rich issue.
