Hey I got my SR running decently but it is running extremely rich... we're talking like 2-3 MPG rich. I can hear the injectors spraying like crazy so I think something is telling the computer that there is a crap load of air coming in. I changed the o2 sensor and made sure that there were no vaccum leaks, and the only possible leak would be where the intake hose goes into the turbo inlet b/c the temporary hose I made is pretty shady. I don't feel a leak around that, but it's a possibility. There is no leak anywhere else and all vaccum hoses are connected or blocked off where appropriate.

While driving around the block, my car was slugish, backfired really loud and then died b/c the engine was flooded. What all should I try before I go spending money on expensive parts. The MAFS could always be busted, but that's expensive to replace. I'm pretty sure I extended the wires to the MAFS correctly and have the plug in correctly. I could always try disconnecting the mafs and see if it changes anything. Anything else besides that to try? Any other sensors or wiring to check?

By the battery my o2 sensor (brown wire) is connected to the brown wire on the ka plug. I believe that is a 12v power source according to some other threads, but is that true?

Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!

Have you checked your injector O-rings? Mine got torn and I had that exact same problem.

If I pull the injectors... does the o-ring sit right where the injector screws in? As in will it be easy to pull an injector and check the o-ring?

just go to autozone and match them up, or get some off a Z32

I'll check those out this weeked, I also noticed that my interior lights slowly fade in and out, especially when you step on the gas, the lights get brighter (including the headlights). What kind of wierd electircal problem could be causing that? Something with the alternator?

Could that be affecting the car, like at idle, the MAFS isn't getting enough power. I'll have to take my voltmeter out and do some inspecting.

Okay if the O-rings are leaking, wouldn't that cause for fuel to leak out of the fuel rail and onto the block? I am having the same problem with my car right now and I bought an e-manage and profec e0-1 to deal with the problem but have been unsuccessful. Greddy believes my wiring maybe wrong (which I doubt because I checked several times :(....)

that electrical thing sounds like a bad ground or connection, or an alternator thing

A new revelation this morning!

Car is still running the same and I tested MAFS and o2 sensor for power and they're good. But when I pull the o2 sensor it makes no difference, even though it's powered and brand new.

But the real interesting thing is that if I pull the little brown plug by the battery area, the car stops running rich and idles beautfiully. This plug controls the fuel pump relay, ecu relay, ac relay, and power to o2 sensor. Any ideas why pulling this plug would make the car run well?

what setup do you have? S13 or S14 motor? Did you do your own wiring?

I have an S13 redtop into an S13. Yes I did all my own wiring, and I verified that everything is wired correctly with the Heavy Throttle Resource and 2 other wiring write-ups I found online.

DISGREGARD -> (Could it be since that plug controls the fuel pump, that the pump just shuts off after all the gas in the line is used, so it runs normally b/c it's not feeding gas as fast?)

What I wrote just above doesn't apply b/c the car will run indefinitely with that plug unattached as long as I don't touch the throttle. As soon as I mess with the throttle, the engine dies.

Nobody has any clue why the engine would run fine when I pull the brown plug by the battery? I'm dying here, trying to get this damn thing to run.

the best advice I can give you over the web is to double check everything you did and just stress. That's how I've been getting by on my project.

Call some shops and fill them in what you have and take some notes.

SOMEONE KICK MY IN THE HEAD.

The MAFS plug is backwards when using the SR plug and the shoc KA mafs! I can't believe that. I shaved off the side of the plug (b/c of the extra 4th pin spot (it's empty) on the plug and turned the plug around so that it was facing the oppoisite way from the normal orientation on the KA and wallah!

Everything is fine now... Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
