Hi, my SR has been running good for a month or so now and then all of a sudden it started bogging on me, i have done many searches. It mostly happens in first gear, it will build boost fine and then the rpms will just slowly rise, and the exhaust sounds horrible. i've tried many things, timing, new plugs, mafs, fuel filter. The thing is i am running a stock fuel pump, but only on stock boost, could this have any thing to do with it? or maybe a fuel leak because i saw fuel leaking one day and then it just dissappeared? any suggestions would help, i've searched everything, and i do have a fuel pump on the way.THanks

fuel delivery could be a problem. Once the car starts to lean out too much, the car will retard ignition spark to make it go away, hurting overall performance. Another idea is to check your exhaust system for any leaks. i had a cat gasket blow out on me one time, and the car ran and sounded like total crap.

Yeah same here, one of my bolts came loose on my cat to the downpipe and the car ran like some shi+.

Might also want to check your timing and if you are running electric fans to run them through a relay.

i am having a similar problem as well.. running on stock fuel pump for only a week longer...

but all this time.. its run like crap! but... it did this before my swap to! so the only thing i can think of is the fuel pump because its the only thing that was not swapped out when i put my SR in? any suggestion's other then fuel? i have checked all seals for leaks and everythings is ok

?

Set Timing = problem solvedStill not as much power as i should, but i am still running lean, well according to my A/F gauge, hopefully the pump takes care of that, any other reasons i may be running lean?

I am having this same problem. My exhaust sounds normal though. Sometimes it will boost ok, sometimes it will lag, turbo spinning, but RPM slowly goes. Mostly happens in second gear for me.I'm thinking it's either timing or fuel pump. I've checked all my hoses and intercooler pipings and they seem to be ok. I'm still using my stock pump also.

Like i said above, i reset my timing to about 16btdc and the bogging stopped, but after that i replaced my fuel pump with a walbro and the power increase was awsome, i was running the stock pump for a while because most threads i read said that they would be fine for stock boost, so if your running the stock pump then lose it.

Cool... I'll check my timing then maybe get a fuel pump also. Thanks.

adjust your tps to 480 mili volts, then do your idle with tps disconnected, then the same way, do your timing to 15 deg above tdc. then check your fuel pressure regulator, pinch the return line, and see if that helps, this is what i did to get my sr running awsome

I've been having the same problem, Now that I think about it I might just have my timing set as a precaution. Figure its about that many miles by now.

first if will start out with this:

91 240 hatch:

sr20det blacktop Greddy fmicgreddy oil filter relocation kitwalbro 255 fuel pumpspec stage 2 cluth with lightweight flywheelgreddy 3in dp to 3in exhaustapexi avcr boost controller (not adjust just hooked it up and left it stock)

the problem i m having is that when i m at WOT it makes a poping noise like it is burning extra gas or something and one time it was idling and white smoke starting coming out of the exhaust.... wel just tonight i was at a friend and i gave a guy a ride in the car cause he wanted to feel the power of the sr ( not that it is something special or nothing) well i did that then they wanted me to do a little burnout so i spun the tires just a little and it was fine thne when i parked i let it run for a while and then it started blow white smoke..... so i gave it a little gas it kept blowing... i gave it a couple pushes on the gas pedal and it went away.....

i m not a tech or nothing this is why i built this car is to learn.. i believe that it is my o2 sensor ... i have the timing at 15 and i also have to set my TPS sensor cause i havent had a chance to get a voltmeter and do that .... so saying all of this does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do?

i live in florida, and i bought the engine used so pretty much everything is orginal except i replace the intake, exhaust, turbo and the throttle body gaskets......

aight well after that happend this past weekend i was worried about the engine so i figured i would make sure to set my timing and set the tps... now correct me if im wrong the way to set timing is to take the first coil out connect a good plug wire into the coil and then to the spark plug, disconnect the tps, then hook up the timing light start the car and then set the timing to 15 deg. well this is what i did.. is the correct?

then i know that i needed to set the tps so i read in a forum how to do it so i followed that here is the link

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....72104

well it runs like **** i cant give it any gas it is poping like crazy.. running way to rich so now i m puzzled cause i dont want to hurt the engine in anyway... so is there someone who can help me please?

first you need to set your tps to .480 milivolts or something of that nature, then you set your idle to about 900, then to set timing, unplug your tps, and hook the timing sensor clip to the black wire on the back of your engine wire harness that's sitting right behind the valve cover (kind of behind/ontop). This black wire will look like a "loop" and you just shoot your timing light onto the crank pulley, loosen the cas and do 15 deg, the 2nd line in from the right :)

pull the harness for your o2 sensor. if that takes the popping out, then you've got it. it's ok to run it without the o2 so don't worry about it too much. This way it'll just take the o2 sensor out of the loop and will run on maps that are built into the ecu when the o2's gone out. It shouldn't be as aggressive as if you were to have your o2 operating, but see if that fixes your popping.

well I looked into it and mad the checks suggested. Well, I have, or say had a Centerforce clutch. It was slipping so slightly that there was no sign of it on my tach. So I thought it was fuel. Well until recently you can see the jumps on the tach and the car is having a hard time engaging so its the clutch. .......Might check that.
