Only two things make a grey or white colored exhaust and those are an overly rich fuel mixture, and moisture(coolant). If there is a loss of coolant and no puddle, I would say yes. Another quick check would be to remove the radiator cap when the engine is cold, make sure it is full and check for the fluid to burble and possibly overflow. This would be caused by the break in the gasket seal introducing compression from the cylinder into the coolant passage. Also, there are now shops that have oil testing machines on site that can produce results in about 7 minutes, checking for many different types of contamination.
