So after I finally get my sr22det s13 hatchie running....
I take my old man out for a ride in it to enjoy it....
The oil light goes on, and I start smelling oil so I immediately turn around, it stalls right as I get into my driveway, I try to start it and it seems a little difficult, so I stop and open the hood....

I notice a big puddle of oil under the car and start thinking fack me :wtf2: just happened...

As I continue to look I happen to notice that the oil filter has magically fell off? :wtf2:

I put an oil filter on from an 02 xterra with a 3.3 as recommended from one of the guys on the forum.....

I def screwed it on really tight.....And am thinking what could have happened.....

What kind of oil filters do most of you guys run on an s13 sr? ....

Maybe possibly too much back pressure?......

saying that it was hard to start tho scares me. u said u turned around and went home, that may have been a bad thing. when my auto meter gauge dropped i shut it off immediatly and had the car towed home. i hope nothing bad happened tho but lemme kno the outcome either way.

yeah, honestly i like the k&n filter. i like the little nut on top of the filter that makes it really really easy to remove but any filter for any twin cam ka will work just fine for as long as its not a fram... THEY SUCK!!!

I had this happen when I used an S14/S15 oil filter on an S13. Threads are close but no cigar. I would advise sticking to the Sentra SER size / compatible oil filter - B13 for S13, and B14 for S14 and S15.

You can't use a KA24 oil filter on a stock SR20 oil filter housing. They are not interchangeable.

Its because of the stroke. . .Just saying.

If you want to be COMPLETELY safe I'm pretty sure one of our sponsors sells the OEM Nissan (Japan) SR20DET oil filter. I have given up trying to find one to match with the oil filter that came on mine. Most all US oil filters are convex around the threads whereas the SR's is concaved.

i heard about these oil filters coming off. i was told if i have an s13 sr to get the Oil Filter from a '91 Sentra SE-R. if u have an s14 sr to get the Oil Filter from a '95 Sentra SE-R. if using a 91 se-r filter in a s14 sr they tend to pop off and vice versa.

Any usdm sr20 filter should work just fine, just try to keep year close to urs. like ciscos13 said 91 se-r for s13 and 95 se-r for s14. ive used the ka filters quite a bit but these guys are right, i cant disagree. sr for sr, the ka filter is just an option thats worked for me.

it may just be the quality difference in the machining of the threads between some manufactureres that will allow u to get away using a ka filter on an sr but if u can get an sr filter USE IT!

Just run an SR K&N oil filter. They flow great, filter great, and have a good oil trap to keep oil in the head for start up.

KA

FILTERS

I can't say it any clearer. Different threads, dfferent seat size, different part numbers.

Can you screw a KA filter onto an SR? Perhaps. Should you? NO!

If you use a KA oil filter on an SR expect trouble.

If a store has a KA oil filter, they will probably have a Sentra SE-R filter. Buy the correct filter.

Misinformation = fail.

"it may just be the quality difference in the machining of the threads between some manufactureres that will allow u to get away using a ka filter on an sr but if u can get an sr filter USE IT!"

^ this here is total bunk.

I am simply trying to prevent someone from following your INCORRECT advice to use a KA oil filter on an SR engine.

I don't give a damn if you THINK it works - it doesn't.

End of story, see ya around.

read what i typed and what u quoted. it MAY be a difference in the machining of the threads BETWEEN SOME manufacturers that will allow u TO GET AWAY WITH USING a ka filter BUT IF U CAN GET AN SR FILTER... USE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i never once stated thata ka filter is guaranteed to work and if u do so, u do it at YOURE OWN RISK! i think ive even said 3 times (2 in one post and once in another) to us AN SR OIL FILTER and i even added in the post i said it twice in THESE GUYS ARE RIGHT!!! use an sr filter for an sr.
Ill say it again and ill try to be really clear when i say it, U can use a ka oil filter but u do so at ur own risk. Ive done it and it worked for me but these other guys are right, get and use an sr20 oil filter for your sr20.
And i dont give a d*mn if u think it doesnt work, and i give a d*mn what u say, and i dont give a d*mn who u are, and i dont give a d*mn what u feel like posting up here but please read what somebody has said and then said again and then clearly said AGAIN before running off about GIVING A D*MN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, your mental capacity = BIG FAIL!!! Lack of higher function and inability to comprehend obviously.
I think FRSport or Enjuku one has or had helmets on sale, u might want to pick one up for when ur special bus comes around
