New to the swaps. I have a 96 240 se with an auto trans that i have been driving daily for about 2 years that is all stock except for audio. I have just picked up a 89 coupe 5 spd with an sr20det redtop in it. I'm looking into swapping the motor and 5 spd into the 96 cause the s13 is just beat due to bad body and no interior. My questions are what can be used as far as the manual swap, and how hard the motor swap will be. If anyone could point out any common problems, additional parts, and guides i would appreciate it greatly. I don't have a lot of money to put into this so if it ends up being to costly i will be posting both cars for sale and trying to find an s14 that is already 5 spd. Thanks again for any help given!

Its not that hard of a swap really just pull all the clutch parts from the 89 and through some cutting, drilling, bolting they should all fit on the 96. Since its an s13 redtop going into an s14 the wiring harnesses are different and you'll need the specified wiring harness for it. I have one if you interested.

first i would check out the swap guides sticked at the top of the technical forum and the tech page articles. the clutch pedal out of a s13 will not work in a s14 or s15 as far as i know the mounts are different. you will need a new one, as well as a brake pedal if you want to do it right. the motor will bolt right up to the stock mounts in the 96, i beleive you need a trans crossmember for the 96 as its not the same as the s13 or the 96 auto. the wiring you will need to change arround, if your not good there are professionals that can do it for you like wiring specialties.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? If you don't know what you are talking about quit steering people in the wrong direction and don't post at all.

As far as 5 speed stuff the clutch pedal will work but you will have to space it out from the firewall. Just use some washers and space it until the top bolt lines up(not hard at all). Since you are on a budget you can simply take a dremel and trim the auto brake pedal down. This will perfectly fine I did both of these to my car and it fits perfect. I am 100% positive on those 2 parts.
The rest of this I am pretty sure on but you will want to double check.
I have not tried but I am pretty sure that the s13 trans crossmember will work in the s14. The wiring harness will have to be modified to make it work or a new one purchased. You will also need to do something about a driveshaft either custom or a new front half for your s14 one. You have lots of research to do good luck!

I am pretty sure the s13 driveshaft will NOT work in an s14.

im sorry, what i should have said is if you want to do it right this is how you do it. but if you want to jury rig it, stack washers and rock a cut brake pedal with no cover.
