Does anyone know anything of the sr's alternator wiring??

I noticed a big plug and wire on the very bottom of the ka's (89) passenger side fuse box, is it here that the alternator should plug into???

Also on the ECu there is some type of alternator fail safe function, does anyone know how this works??:help :help

did you ever figure it out? I'm in the middle of doing an SR swap and was wondering the same thing.

My harness was cut on my SR right after the starter and right after the alternator. I am assuming these wires ran to the battery and the fuse box, I was just going to remove the clipped wires from the SR starter and alternator, and attach them the way they were with the wires from the KA.

Is that the right way to do it? or is the wiring totally different on the SR.

What I ended up doing, was to trace each wire and write down what everything goes to. Most people you ask don't know crap and all they can tell you is to look at this website or this other one. In reality its better if you take the time and figure everything out yourself.

As per the alternator wiring I can email you what I did tomorrow cause I don't have the paper with me. Off the top of my head I know my sr alternator output was a big white wire which plugged into the large two prong plug beneath the main fuse box (by the battery), my ka had a two prong wire going to it, while the sr only had a one wire. No problem there its just that the sr alternator ground was routed to the engine block. Also, the alternator must have some type of wire for excitation of the field (inside the alternator) I dont remember the color, but I can get it later.

after that ka (sohc) matched up perfectly to the sr as far as the starter and alternator.

On the SR swaps that I have done I've used the lower harness from the KA motors. The only changes I made were to lengthen the wire for the oil pressure switch by about 3", and change the connector for the starter solenoid (the SR one will lock onto the solenoid connector the KA one won't). I think I also cut and soldered two wires that go to the transmission harness - they were the same colors - the rest of the transmission harness I used was SR and it plugged right in. there are some extra wires in teh KA harness that don't get used - 5th gear switch, and an extra plug which is probably something to do with auto that was never connected to anything on teh KA either.

I hope this helps.

Hey can you guys tell me where the field and armature wires should go to? Supposedly the Sarter switch? Where is that and what does it look like?
