i have an s13 sr in an s13 chassis and i am using the SR compressor(i have already switched everything over to R-134, don't know if that matters for th is question but there you go) my question is.. all the plugs in the battery tray area have been re-wired for where they need to be for a/c, but do i have to do any re-wiring on the ecu plug?

right now my system is completely drained of refrigerant, i have not filled it yet. BUT when i push the a/c button the green light doesn't come one anymore, is it supposed to do that? and how much refrigerant and oil am i supposed to put in assuming that it is comletely empty, i am going to drain all the old oil out and put new stuff in.

thanks,quang

There is a safety pressure switch that prevents you from destroying your compressor when you are low on freon. This pressure switch is also the one that cuts power to the compressor when pressures rise above a certain level. All in all, yes the light doesn't come on til the a/c actually has freon and is in good working order (all sensors in check).

o ic, so do you know if i have to do any re-wiring in the ecu plug? all i wried was the plugs near the battery tray, then cut and soldered the SR compressor plug onto the KA wire near the drviers fender well

just put some refirigerant in it form discount auto;'s charge kit w/ the gauges and it filled only like half the bottle then stopped and the gauge on the low side read almost 170 psi! it wouldnt take anymore of the refrigerant had over half on bottle left. i had the a/c in high while i was filling, it was almost like the a/c didn't wanna take anymore refrigernat even though it was empty!

any ideas im gettin hot and frustrated, imight just take it to a mechanic to do!

The low side shouldn't be charged more than around 50psi. Something is wrong. You should take it a shop and have the system vac. then recharged. I took mine to a place in miami called eagle overhauling. They are cheap and made my custom lines for my ka /sr A/C system. They vac. the system added oil and charged the a/c system for 30bucks.
