background info:1993 240sx coupe with R134a a/c.Sr swap but with ka a/c compressor

when i turn the a/c on the green light comes on and the compressor's clutch kicks in but it does not get cold.

earlier today i had the a/c on and touched the high pressure line(the one comming from the compressor to the front of the car) and that line was hot. very hot. car was idling for about 10mins.

but if i let it cool down and run the car again with the a/c off its not hot.

the freon keeps the compressor cool? if i'm low on freon the high side line would be hot?if i'm running low on freon and compressor's clutch would not kick on? but it does kick on.

i'm stumped and summers in louisiana are no joke!

The A/C high side should always be hot only when the A/C is on and operating correctly. If you're not getting any cooling, then the refrigerant charge may be low or there's a lot of air in the system.
