Okay, well I need to some help. I have searched and searched forums after forums trying to find some information on a a/c clutch coil replacement equivalent. I have talked to a local shop, PDMracing, which informed me that a lot of people use modified KA or KADET coils... he couldn't remember. So I was hoping someone could refer me to a compatiable part or a whole compressor.

The reason I need the part is that the clutch seems to be blowing the 10amp fuse that feeds it power, and even who I directly give it power it glows a 30amp fuse...(it blows super cold before the fuse pops).... I have been doing some serious research and believe it is the clutch coil. This means I need to find a SR20DET compressor,or something that will work, with a working clutch/coil...or just the clutch/coil.

P.S.) I am in North America... hence the issue with parts...

i think you could use a s14 KA magnet as a replacement as the s13 KA one is too thick. the only thing is that you cant get just clutch parts. i tried. youll have to go junk yard hopping and hope that theyll just the clutch parts, which i doubt. the magnet went out on mine too, but im using an s14 ka compressor on my SR. i happen to have my replacement on hand if you need messurements.

also, you do know a special tool is required to remove the clutch, right?i got mine off of ebay for $28, im waiting for it to come in.

s14? Can anyone confirm that? It's Canada day today, hence I haven't started any work on the car... currently at the beach on my iphone... I know... why am I doig this on the beach... well... I WANT MY AC TO WORK! lol, but as for the special tool... I don't see why I would need one. I have looked over the diagram, out of the manual, and it seems very straight forward... besides maybe a pulley puller... What tool exactly is it? Also, do you think you could post the measurements of the compressor's coil, just in case I pull it out tomorrow. One more thing... is the s14 240's a direct bolt on? If so, couldn't i just replace the compressor with that...unless the r12 and r134a would be an issue...

Thank rustest!

the front disk is pressed on. you need the special tool to pull the front disk off after you remove the 10mm bolt, which is there for safetys sake. its got 3 pegs that fit into the three holes on the disk. and then another peice threads into the tool and pushes the disk off. as far as the pulley, its held on with a snap ring, take that off and the pulley slides off. then the magnet is also held on with another snap ring. sinple if you got the tool.

no and yes, the s14 compressor will bolt on but the pulley wont line up quite right. i just bought a kit for cody ace, on this site, to make it line up

the tool is suppose to be a kent moore j38876 for a geo storm, lol. ill let you know if thats right when i get mine in.

and ill get those messurements up later on tonight for you

ok sorry i didnt back earlier but i didnt get to work on mine till last night.....that removal tool i bought..... wont work. theres another tool that comes in the set used to press the disk back on and that worked fine though.

but yeah.... the dimensions for an s14 coil are:103mm or 4in across70.7mm or 2.78in inside width which means the magnet itself is 15.8mm or.6in thick.the magnet is 31mm or 1.2in thick front to back and the opening that the snout of the compressor slips through is 50mm or 2in.

an s13 KA magnet should be the same just thicker front to back.

i ended up just useing 2 screwdrivers, be carefull not to bend the clutch disk. and it popped right off. remove the snapring next, but be careful the groove on the snout can break off easily and the that compressor is useless. slide the pully off then remove the snapring holding the magnet. reassembly is easy you just need a tool to press the disk back on. i think oreilly's has a good compressor set but its doent have the removal tool in it. also the snaprings are tappered on one side that tapper faces out.

good luck hope you find a magnet that works...... after i got mine all back together and charged it up i had a line blow out ...... its always something with this car.
