ok a while back i bought the megan racing alluminum lightweight pulleys for my Sr well when i did tha i went ahead and bought new GATES belts. like a week after we put the pulleys on the belts started squeekign really bad and REALY LOUD. it has progressively got worse to the point of not just start up squeeking for about a minute or so to after it warms up to temp and ill be driving come to a light and say my car bogs down and they start squeeling again it really sucks so i have gone to advanced and napa and they cant cross reference the belt number for me to get possibly a smaller one....the one thats on there is a 37 in belt i think and yes the tensoners are maxed out and it still squeels... my question for you guys is where do you SR guys get your belts from?? also is anyone running these same allumin lightweight pulleys??? any help would be appreciated thanks a lotJames

you might want to try some "belt dressing" It comes in a can that looks like spray paint. I dont know exactly what it does or how it works but I would assume it just adds some friction to the pulley and belt surfaces.

Might have something to do with the pullies being aluminum and not steel. The anodizing could be smoother than a regular steel pulley, therefore lower friction and relative slip, and squeal.

Dont use a smaller belt or max out the tensioners, all you will do is overload the bearings in your alt/ps pump/AC pump, and you'll end up with a whole new set of problems.

Im pretty sure this was the stuff I used before, http://www.valvoline.com/pages...ct=32

belt dressing adds basically a sticky "layer" on the belt to help it "grip" the pullys better (i work at advance auto parts) thats why you have the car running when you spray the belt dressing onto the belts.

Are you sure you installed them correctly and that they're not too tight or too loose?
