The video shows the noise. I thought it was the belt so i took everything out and reset everything to the way it should be and it still does it. Its got a new Belt, Tensioner, and Idler. So i took the Upper Belt Cover off and ran the engine and found its directly coming from the Exhaust Cam or Cam Gear. It only makes the noise at 900-1000rpm. Anything higher or lower and the noise goes away. Anybody whos familier with the Cam Setup on these engines, is there anything that could be rubbing between the Cam or Cam Gear?

might be the backing plate, mine was doing the same and required some 'adjustment'.

Which backing plate are you refering to? The one that the Upper Belt Cover bolts to?

mine still does the same thing, but only around 700rpms so I just adjusted my Idle with my PFC to be idle there.

I was just told that alot of RB25s do it at low idle and the belt didnt look to be rubbing anything so I just went with it.

!! If this is from belt contact Im going to have to do some "adjusting" quick.

Mine does the same thing as the vid, just not as much.

And I agree, if it's something serious, Carl let us know ASAP!!

just my opinion but has it got the right cambelt on it??? i know theres 3 different types of cambelts and if u have the wrong one it makes this kind of noise....

theres round teeth, trapezoid teeth (mind my spelling) and square teeth....ive had a rb25 at my workshop do the same thing....was the wrong belt

basicly just match the teeth on the belt to the teeth on the cam geers and make sure its the exact same shaped teeth

It doesnt seem like the belt at all. When i had the cover off and the engine running. You could hear the rubbing noise best from behind the pulley and in the front portion of the valve cover. I used my handy dandy screwdriver stethoscope to find that much. Im gonna go with what Carl said about the backing plate rubbing something. It doesnt seem to be an issue whatsoever. Just a nusense.
