The car is a 92 240sx KA24DE 5 spd with just under 70k original miles. Just recently i noticed that when i am moving, particularly at slower speeds (say 25 or below), the wheel seems to squeek. I believe it is the rear passenger wheel. When i apply the brakes the squeeking stops. The noise is consistant with the speed of the car (i.e. the faster i go, the faster the squeek).

I have just noticed it within the past 2 weeks or so but that doesnt mean it hasnt been doing it for a while now. However, about the time i noticed it my dad and I swapped brake pads in the rear. The brakes seem to be what may be causing the noise because of the fact that if i apply them the noise stops even if the car is still moving. I cant, however, put my finger on what would be causing it to be repetative (sp?) and consistant with my speed.

Any Ideas?

Thanx!

lol....man i miss NISTECH...

anyway...im thinking its a wheel bearing. The car wobbles a bit and the squeeking is getting progressivly louder.

My s13 did the same thing. You have to take it to the shop and have them resurface and rotate the rotors, then replace the brake pads.

This would be causing wobbling and squeeking while moving?

Just want to make sure before i go out and spend money. Thankyou for the help!

GO get a free brake inspection at midas or something like that. they would be able to tell you. I just put new rotors on my car and they were only liek $20, unless you want them slotted.

The same exact thing happened with my S14. What, apparently, had happened was the rear brake caliper had broken, and was stuck 'closed' or something. Anyway, i had that caliper replaced, all new Brembo rotors, and Endless pads. about 700 dollors later, problem fixed. I would do the free brake inspection.

good luck.
