Join the club. I'm taking my car to be serviced on Monday b/c the issue scares me. We'll see what's what. I don't know much about the inner workings of my car. I know it's not the belt b/c those are 6 months old. It gets louder as the engine revs higher, and I think it's a pulley this time...but at only 71,000km, I'm guessing...

If it still says Nissan on the belt, then it's time to change.

I've had brand new belts squeal on me after 2 weeks. All I did was check the tension and sprayed some belt dressing and the squealing stopped.

Go buy a stethoscope from Autozone or Harbor Freight and start poking around to narrow down which pulley it might be.

Turns out to be the harmonic balancer and the clutch fan pulley. When the engine is warm, wear a pair of gloves and stop the fan. Wiggle it around, see if the squeal stops. It did fo rme, and when I replaced it, all was well.

i had the same problem a month or two ago. even if you have new belts it can still squeal. check the tension on the belts. and also make sure your defrost isnt on during start up. that can also cause the squealing in cold weather.

are those parts easily accessible and able to be worked on? i don't have 1k to drop on getting it fixed. my car has the same problem. squeals when it starts up, and stops as soon as i apply pressure to the accelerator.

Try this: When it squeals, turn off the engine and then turn it back on. If it stops, you have a belt problem. It's just not tight enough...

The reason this works is that the pulley is still moving when u turn it off, when u turn it on, it locks properly w/ the pulley.
