There is a high pitch squealing noise that is coming from my front right wheel. The noise stops when I step on the breaks. I took of the wheel to see if any thing is broke or loose, and I don’t seen any thing that is wrong. Could it be the rotor? Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably the "squealer". The squealer is a piece of metal that contacts the rotor when the brake pads are getting too low.

Ive never heard of that part, are you messing with me? I plan on changes my brake pads this weekend anyway to see if that fixes the problem. If not ,would I need to install new rotors or is could it be something else.

replace your brake pads and mic your rotors to see if they need to be turned (resurfaced) due to the squeeler on the brake pads themselves. good luck

I'm compeletly serious. You also need to have your rotors turned before putting on the new pads. If you don't, you will end up wearing through the pads faster than you normally would.

Thanks for the advice from the both of you, it looks like its going to be a weekend project for me. While Im at it, I may just install some drill slotted rotors.
