Probably an easy fix to you experienced owners...Whenever I start my engine for the first time of the day, it squeals. Its a pretty quick but loud noise, probably about 1 second maybe slightly less. I'm assuming its the belt? Id appreciate any suggestions (can I spray something on the belt?)

Thanks

I have this problem too. a kid at the local auto place said to use chalk to get rid of noise. its pretty hard to reach the belts so have not tried. there is belt conditioner that is sold but that is supposed to be a ripoff. you treat each belt one at a time to find out which belt is the problem. the pulley can also be the problem. a belt that is too loose also causes squealing. I guess i should search

A loose drive belt would cause this. Most of the time it will get worse as it loosens up or wears. What condition is your belt in? Find the tensioner and tighten it up and it will make the belt snug. If the belt is old and worn and you try to tighten it up it might snap.

ok. Thanks, I'll check the belt and see its condition. A friend of mine tried to tighten it, but I don't know if he tightened it a lot or maybe the belt is so old the tightening didn't work.
