Ok, I have a 2005 Nissan altima 2.5S with approximately 62,000 miles. I recently noticed when idle and I have either the heater or ac on there is a fan that kicks in (coming from under hood) often and it makes a slight squeaky noise. This fan will come on and turn off repeatedly. This sound stops if I turn the heat or ac completely off. Any thoughts? Any help is appreciated!

The fans will cycle on and off when the a/c compreesor kicks on as you are turn the fan switch on and off. Squeaking noise could be a dry drive belt or something as simple as a rusted ring on you front exhaust tube and vibrating as a slight load is applied. Need more info on general area of noise. Pop the hood and listen for noise, is it on the passenger side where the drive belt is or does it sound like its under the car?

The sound appears to be coming from passenger side, however I haven't noticed it much over the last week or so
