My brakes only squeak while backing up. The dealership said while getting my inspection that my brakes were fine. Anybody know what's wrong?

How many miles do you have?

Mine were squeaking while coming to a stop. The dealer said they checked them and there was nothing wrong with the brakes. But they did a visual inspection and the car only had 19K miles on it so they were the original brakes pads and rotors.

I took it back and told them they had to figure it out. The noise was driving me nuts. So they test drove it and agreed. They said because the pads and rotors were in such good shape the factory warranty would hold up. So they started on the fronts and turned the rotors. Fine for 1 week and then it came back. Back to the dealer and this time the turned the rear rotors. Fine for 1 week and then the squeak came back. Third times the charm....or so I thought. They said they put new pads on the front and that would do the trick. Within 1 week the squeak came back again.

They gave up and said they could not do any more and frankly I was tired of spending more time at the dealers then on the road.

Funny thing is: After about 2 months of just ignoring it. Squeak went away.

Just one of those things I guess. Heck I was ready to go to some aftermarket pads, which I may do anyway. But need to wear these out first.

mine squeak (not squeal) just a bit when I back up too. But, not forward, so I don't care.

My 2009 G37 coupe with 8K does this on occasion only while backing up. My mom has a 2005 FX 35 with 30K and it does the same thing. She had the dealer inspect hers and could find nothing wrong. Both cars' braking is excellent otherwise so I am not going to worry about it, yet.

same here brosif....

dealer checked out my brakes, everything seemed fine. I vaguely recall someone saying that it is normal due the ABS or something....
