squeaking uder the hood.

Hello,i have 03 m 45 with 81k on it.i have squeaking under the hood right where the all the belts are.it used to do it only when it rained, so i put new belts. now its doing all the time.My mechanic said it could be idler or tensioner pulley.Please let me know what i should do.Thanks,caug.

Hello again,looks like i posted some confusing request.let me clarify myself.all i need to know is which of the pulleys in drive belt area tents go first.the drive belt is new.Thanks,caug

It's most probably the idler pulley. This can happen after replacing the belts, especially if they were over-tightened. You can buy a mechanic's stethoscope (from Sear of Harbor Freight for <$20) to confirm the problem.

I think I might know what you are talking about. I had an inconsistent squeak that would come around when warmed up, when the ac was on or when the engine idle was at low rpm. I couldnt figure it out but finally I was screwing around and figured out it was the tensioner.

You can check it by pulling on the outermost serpentine belt to move the tensioner. You should feel it stick and hear it squeak. I bought a can of crc white grease, sprayed it in and it hasnt squeaked since. Every oil change, I put some more in. Hope that helps.

Where did you spray it exactly? I'm having the same issue myself since my belts were changed.
