Squeaking sounds

Ok, I'm trying to find out when exactly you (those unfortunate souls) started hearing those annoying, squeaking sounds (not the seatbelt rubbing against the car or a loose screw somewhere) but the squeaking sounds coming from the center console.

Before I jacked the car up and modified (about 2-3 weeks after I got it), I don't remember hearing any sound at all. Now, usually when it's cold or the first 3-4 minutes of driving, going over very, very small bumps, very, very small uneven road (like between the two concrete slabs on the road) I can hear the squeaking sounds coming from the middle console. They go away after about 4-5 minutes of driving, like the engine's warmth makes the plastic expands and fits snuggly. I also don't hear them when I drive mid-day when it has been sitting out in the sun.

My theory is that maybe when I jacked up the car on 1 side (driver or passenger), it twisted the body frame or something just a little bit and subsequently caused the plastic-on-plastic rubbing inside the console.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a poll so just reply with whether you've heard the sounds (or other similar annoyances) before or after you had jacked up your car (blown tire, new front fascia, install HID, install Eibach, or whatever reason) and about how long after you've got the car.

I've got a big squeak from the center console just for sitting my arm on the armrest part of it. I've had it for a long time now.

I think i know what it is!

Ok... go sit in your back seat (easiest way to see this...) theres 1 screw on each side of the console in the back... just above where your ankle would be... They fall out easily.

Problem solved?

I have the same problem, it only happens when my car is cold. Once it warms it goes away. Now I took care of it permanently. I found where my squeak was and I sprayed a tiny silicone grease there (good for plastics and rubber) and it went away. The real problem was locating the damn noise.

I can not seem to track down the source of all these squeaks. It is definitly worse when it is cold. It almost sounds like the headliner, the A-pillars, or the Dashboard. To me, it sounds like plastic rubbing or styrofoam rubbing against something. If someone is able to track these down, PLEASE post pictures and the solution. These are getting old really fast.

that sounds very much like what I am hearing . . . try holding the maplight housing, does it silence the sound? I have noticed that that housing is partof my problem, but there is still something else coming from the A-frame or glovebox =(

I had the same problem till... 30 minutes ago~... I read what brandon said about those screws coming loose easily. Well... I went out and check the screws and they were BOTH off. Well.. I found the screws under the seats and screwed them in. NOISE GONE!

THank you Brandon~

Gah!! I have found how to stop my noise temporarily but I have NO IDEA how to go about fixing it. If I push/hold my passenger side visor up against the roof firmly the noise stops. It does not seem to be the hinge of the visor as I tried shaking/pushing it, maybe its something in the roof in that location?? Is there any way to access this part of the roof??

I am really close to buying a Bulk Pack of Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro and applying it to the roof, doors, A-Pillars, Trunk, and Floor. I love everything about the car except all the damn noises. I think it too cold to apply sound deadener( I don't have a garage). I hope I can get through the winter without trading it in!

That noise around the passenger visor... I had that too when I just bought the car. I believe the sound came from the side of visor where it some what folds in like 3 places. I heard a clicking or ticking sound whenever car hit a bump. I didnt fix it... but the noise went away after couple of months of driving. If it is what you're talking about.... would bend and flex that folding part till the noise goes away.

are you talking about the visor??? i dont think its loose. I think it just needs to be "broken in".
