Would it be possible/good to use SR or other shorter rods and have the block shaved down? I have no idea how close to square this would be or if it would work at all - perhaps someone does?

I think you'd have a better chance of finding a KA20 and boring it out for the 24's 89mm pistons. KA20's 86mm stroke plus KA24 89mm bore makes a nice 2.2L KA.

KA20 and KA24 have different deck heights accoridng to deviousKA, so you cant use the KA20's rods in the KA24 block...

What is the deck height of the KA24?How similar is the KA20 to the 24? Perhaps that's the way to go.

Of course you can't just use shorter rods, I'm talking bout shaving the deck.

Many many calculations have been done, concerning the destroking of the KA. In the end, it was determined that the increase in redline and potential power came to about 8500rpm safely and gaining around 50hp.

Hardly worth it, since there currently aren't any destroking kits and you'd have to get stuff custom made. 50hp could be more easily obtained via meth injection, nitrous, higher boost pressures, etc.

Search over on FA and you'll likely find it, but it'll take some digging.

It's not a bad idea, just silly expensive and not worth the cost because of the limited resources for the KA24.

Deck height is in the FSM, which I dont have on this PC.

I meant to say using the KA20 rods AND crank in the KA24 wont work...
