i have a 93 and i just recently put a turbo into it and im haveing problems with it idling and backfiring. right now im running N/A untill i fidgure this out. i have the stock fuel pump/injectors. replaced the plugs and wires and still it will idle ok for a little bit if i give it gas when its cold it will die right away i have to let it warm up then i can get it going. plus at a dead spot if i hit the gas there is hesitation. when im on the freeway and i have the cruise on when i go down hill it sputters but everything else is ok. when i let off the gas at it seems about at 1700 rpms i get a small backfire. the last thing is the four vacuum lines right under the throttle body i capped off. is that right? and i havent yet gotten the block off plate for my egr so its still open. ive been told many things and am trying to figure it out if its a vacuum leak or fuel or whatever.

That is a huge vacuum leak! Fix that first then post your results. When you post your results tell us what your vacuum is reading at idle. It should be around 20.

http://www.rigidracing.com will have a block off plate that is cheap.

When I tried to block off all four of the vacuum lines under the TB I had very poor results. My car ran like a dog, no power at all, I couldn't even spin the tires if I dumped the clutch in first. All I had to do was take the cap off of the third line, this is looking into the engine bay from left to right. Problem solved.

Secondly; do you have a gauge for fuel pressure? You'll definitely want to keep an eye on this for the first while.

Good luck!

thx ill keep that in mind and as for blocking the egr will there be any difference if i block it off from thye pipe that used to go into the exhaust or just put a plate in between the egr and engine?

i blocked off all 4 vacuum under the TB and its perfectly fine. when you block off the EGR at the pipe, you wont notice anything at idle. but when you drive you'll get a sputter feelings every once in a while and most likley you'll go lean. just close it off period
