Well that would be a lot of things. Fuel delivery would be the most common but also the most expensive. Fuel pump, FPR, injectors. My s13 had sort of the same problem. You might want to start doing some cheaper options to see if they help like adjusting the tps, running extra ground wires, sea foam, plugs, and plug wires. The problem on mine was the plug wires. Hope that helps.

NEW PLUG WIRES NEW DISTRIBUTOR NEW PLUGS NEW FUEL FILTER WHEN I GO THROUGH AND PULL PLUG WIRES WHILE IDLING NO CHANGE ON ANY CYLINDER THIS WAS A PROBLEM A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND JUST WENT AWAY ON ITS OWN NOW ITS BACK. HAS STALLED TWICE IN LAST TWO DAYS STRUGGLES ALOT IN REVERSE. AND AFTER STOPPING. IF I JUST SLOW DOWN THEN SPEED UP ITS FINE. GOOD SPARK ON EVERY CYLINDER UMM. NOT MUCH ELSE I CAN THINK OF PERTAINING TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. BEFORE I GOT THE CAR IT SAT WITH TINY AMOUNT OF FUEL IN IT. IT SAT FOR TWO YEARS STARTED IN LIKE 3 SECONDS AFTER PUTTING IN BATTERY BUT WHEN I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER IT WAS FULL OF LACQUER CHIPS LIKE IT FILLED THE PALM OF MY HAND. CAR HAS BEEN FINE I DEGREASSED THE ENGINE AND WASHED IT ALL OUT AND THIS HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY AFTER

It's kind of hard to make out your description. But from what you told me about the old fuel filter, it certainly would make more sense that the injectors are the problem. I'm no expert on injectors so hopefully someone can help you out better than I can with that.

I'd check the FPR for sure though, and you might as well sea foam your engine and fuel system to clean out any built up crap.

I'm having a similar problem right now. While the car is idling, check the injectors by unpluging each one, one at a time and then reinstalling after a short hesitation in the engine sound.

You will need to also check the fuel pressure. You will need a fp tester for this or a good gauge will work as well. Check by removing the line going to the fuel filter from the rail and inserting gauge here. Fp should be 34 psi or so.

Next.. this is where I'm at now. Check continuity between connectors with an ohm meter and a good reference like a factory service manual, if you don't have one get one some how some way. This is a better route than just throwing parts at the car.
