just recently my car has been acting up only during WOT. it sputters or breaks up in intervals..... (RPM)1000-2600= sputter2600-3800= normal3800-5000=sputter5000-redline=normal

now i advanced my timing at the distributor and it helped a little so i advanced it a little more but now its almost fully advanced at the distributor and i dont want to drive around like this but it runs the best at this setting.....(the more retarded the timing, the more it sputters and worse it gets throughout the entire rpm range)

i also checked my plugs and wires.....cylinder #3 has a little bit of oil on the spark plug (dont know if this would be the reason for it acting up or not)

other than that, i dont know what else it could be....its very annoying and sounds like crap when it does it and i want my car to run normal again

any advice is welcome and greatly appreciated as always!

Could be a couple of things i would try the basics first before adjust the timing to much

try...

Make sure you cool sensor is pluged that can cause weird idle issue to

Fuel injectorsCleaning the idle control vavle(buy some carb cleaneer and spray in the idle control vavle and the idle control vavle)

spark plugs

fixed the problem......turns out im an idiot and havent checked the oil lately....i was almost a full quart low so added 3/4 of a quart of castrol high mileage 10w-30 and problem solved

still wondering though...what was actually causing the sputtering? (obviously low oil) but what wasnt working properly to cause the sputter?
