So a little back story on what I know about the car. I bought it last summer from a guy in Buford, GA. He had swapped out the auto for a manual. Everything seemed good on the test drive and on the drive back to Columbus (150 miles). Took it by a shop in town to have the oil changed, coolant flushed and other filters/fluids changed. Ran good with a little rattle in the drivetrain. Drove it for 3 months and changed the oil. A few days later, it threw a CEL. Ran the code and it was the MAF. Took my time looking around for a MAF since it didn't seem to be affecting day-to-day. BAM! Overheating. I towed it to a friend's shop and had him check it out. He found that the headgasket had been sandwiched in such a way that it was overlapping one of the water jackets and that there was also stop leak present in the cooling system. I had him start working on it and he replaced the headgasket and had the head sent to be milled. There was a small leak around the water pump as well, so he replaced that. It turned out that the head needed only minimal resurfacing.
Over time, everything was put back together. The car was still having trouble starting. He checked it out and there was a small plenum leak. Went ahead and did new plug wires, plugs, plugs, fuel filter while we were putting it back together. Anyhow, I drove it out of the shop Thursday fine. Put 150 miles on it and pulled it in to my driveway. It started choking up and then sputtered and died. Yesterday, I redid all the wiring harness hacks that I could see, ran a dry/cold compression test (110---). When I pulled the plugs they looked super rich. After the compression test, I forgot to put the fuel pump fuse back in and the dang car cranked up and then ran for 2-3 seconds and cut out. I replaced the fuel pump fuse and put a new set of plugs in and then hit the ignition. It cranked again. As long is I had it running decided to do a warm compression test. Ran the test dry/warm (120---). Not great, but not terrible. I didn't have any oil so I wasn't able to try a warm/wet test.
So that brings us to now. I crank it up (95% it cranks up immediately) and then it after it warms up it idles at 7-800 and is a little rough. If you tap the pedal, there is a 1 second delay in an RPM change. If you gas it from a dead stop, it bogs heavy up to 2000 and then it will catch up to itself and start climbing normally. I pulled the plugs this afternoon and now they look lean. Any ideas what to check?
