spun rod bearing... should i get new crank???

hi i spun my rod bearing... if i were to rebuild my motor... what would i need??? should i get another crankshaft and be safe or should i get my same crankshaft and get it machined??? pls i need the niconauts advice on this one really badly... thanks in advance-Dara

Depends on how much damage was done. Did you run it for long after you noticed some knock? I would pull it apart and take it to a trustworthy machine shop and see what they recommend.

the only problem is i dont have time... i am currently deployed atm... and i want to use my 2 weeks R&R to work on the motor... so i bought a crank from someone on freshalloy for 120... i am just gonna get it micropolished and balanced... anyone know approx. how much taht would cost??? thanks-Dara

depends on the shops nearby. my neck of the woods, it'll run 100-200 for both services.

You spun a rod bearing. A spun bearing does damage to both the crank and the journal it was in. So you will probably need the rods reconditioned (machined out a bit and rehoned) or replace it.
