Ok, so I have a thread in 240gen with my intro and my problem I have. Figured this would be better to ask here.

I have a blown sr that is trash and I need to get this fixed. I'm looking all around and trying to save some money. I'd like to have a rebuilt longblock in a perfect world but want to keep my costs down.

What I have found so far: -longblock with bad rings and low compression $550. -spun bearing longblock $300. comes with t-25-longblock from jdm of miami with good compression and a warranty $750

I know if I get the spun bearing I'll likely have to get a crank. I could sell the t-25 and recoupe some money. The one for $550 just needs a rebuild. And the one from miami seems to be good to go and likely wouldn't have to rebuild. I have purchased many parts from them in the past and never had any problems. I would just hate to spend $750 and then have to rebuild anyway. If I do rebuild it it's going to be a stock bottom end and build the head complimented by a gt2871r.

What do you guys recomend on a tight budget with a baby? What would be the smartest way to do this and cost the least. Notice I didn't say "what's the cheapest way"...All advice and anything you guys can add is extremly helpful!

either one of those engines you decide to buy you should rebuild it anyway. a 300 rebuild is alot cheaper then to buy a longblock that you know has a crap ton of miles on it and depending on how you drive it will need a rebuild anyway.

If you just needed a motor for a daily driver and dont plan on beating on it, then get the block thats in Miami

If you plan on beating on the motor. I would buy the one that has low compression. simply because finding a crank that is in great condition and has been measured by a machine shop will cost just as much or more as $550 longblock

The crank is the same as the sentra se-r...you can get a crank kit for around 250 at my local TRUSTED parts store. How's the compression on the one with a spun bearing?

the 300$ is the best bet that way if it turns out to be a dud you can part it out for more

I'm not sure about the compression with the spun bearing motor. I figured it wouldn't matter any way if I'm going to rebuild it.So if the the crank in that motor is messed up from the spun bearing, wouldn't the block be messed up too? If not then I'll go that route, just looking for a good crank kit now. I do drive my cars hard so that eliminates the "good compression" motor. Thanks guys! Anyone else want to give there input?

Ok so I've done some research on these remanufactured crank kits and they don't make me feel too comfy. I mean I see a lot of people steering away from them but they are a good price. A new one is out of the question, but getting another crank and sending it off to the machine shop makes some sense. I also saw the crank kits at auto zone for $220 with bearings and all. However that just seems to good to be true.

What would you guys do about the crankshaft part?

autozone is just a machined crank from a junkyard

That's what I figured.
