KYB and RSR spring. Tanabe or JIC is great, but start one at the lowest IMO. One step at a time...don't waste your money jumping to coilover right away. I'm getting KYB with RSR instead of JIC FLT-A1 because i'm still learning. Unless your an experienced driver/drifter then sure np. That was my 2 cents. Coilovers are niceeeeee. ^_^

It's not a waste of money to get coilovers now if youre planning on really drifting/racing. It will make a harsh ride, but ultimately the tunability and the better valving and spring rates will make you a better drifter/racer. It is a waste of money to buy something knowing that soon (within a year or two) you will be moving up to coilovers when you could have just gotten them in the first place. If its a daily driver and you don't want to deal with harshness, or you only drift/race once a month or something, yea then coilovers are a waste as you won't progress fast enough to take advantage of them anytime soon.

edit: all IMO

it depends of course on your personal goals for the car and what you plan on doing with it. but for me, when i went to modify suspension the first thing i did was coilovers (after some new tires). i bought them because i knew i would want them eventually. i have since gotten softer springs for them. you could look into softer springs if you are planning on coilovers but dont want them to be too harsh. they really arent all that bad, i know its opinion, but i cant call them harsh; stiff, but nothing is jaw rattling. im sure with bushing swaps and things like this the ride becomes closer to harsh.

if the roads around where you live are horible like they are where i live, and you want to have your fun on those roads, then you probably want springs, even a road that sort of rolls unevenly, not neccesarily bumpy, can keep you from going as fast as you would, it isnt confidence inspiring.

maybe im thinking of different springs, but i heard that agx's arent a good pairing with rsr springs? (i know you said kyb, what model is popular for this?) something about the springs being a little to stiff? i have also heard good things about linear springs (coilovers use linear springs), i dont think tein s tech are linear.

My friend has KYB with RSR spring n he enjoys it a lot. The reason why I picked KYB and RSR is because it's the closest I can get to coilover since i plan to try drifting out for awhile. RSR by far is the stiffest spring for S13 think and i also think they're linear also. Correct me if i'm wrong

I've only driven my S13 for a little bit with the AGX/RS*R combo, but I don't forsee any problems with this setup. The ride is firm but not harsh, maybe a little bouncy but you expect that from real stiff springs. I've got the dampers set on 2/4 and it doesn't feel like they are having any issues with the high rate springs. I guess time will tell. But I really like it so far.

uh oh... 2 raging pandas!I think it alll comes down to a matter of personal goal/money. For a dirt poor college student like me that doesn't see much track time, KYB n AGX are good enough.
