I know most of you are going to say "NO BAD IDEA" and something of the sort, but i thought id ask anyhow.

So a guy on the boards is ditching his Whiteline springs which drop the S13 around 1.8". I'm more than likely gonna get these from him. I however cant afford shocks.

Contrary to my belief, i checked PDM-racing.com and they claim these springs will work fine on OEM shocks and performance shocks.

Quoted:

Designed to safely lower the 240SX without "slamming", these springs lower the vehicles between 1.6 and 1.8 inches with a firm but not harsh ride. Whiteline has carefully designed these springs to work on a variety of roads including less than ideal road conditions.

(PDM does NOT recommend lowering a 240SX more than this with OEM style struts and shocks due to bottoming out. The front shock design is not meant to run slammed 2" or more springs, and will damage the shocks and create a potentially dangerous condition. Also rear camber will become a problem on severely lowered cars)

What do you guys think? Good idea? Horrible Idea?

I only plan to run on factory shocks for maybe 3 months tops, then get agx or something of the sort...or hopefully get full coilovers

Actually, I'm in the market for spring /shock combo right now. Did a lot of search and ended up whiteline+KYB AGX combo. There's a lot of info on AGX with S-Tech, RS*R, Sportline and Prokit, but not much on whiteline. According to my search results, whiteline springs should work fine with stock shocks or AGX. Since PDM has some pics of AGX/whiteline S13 coupe, they should know the combo works fine. I think I might create a new thread to make sure whiteline will work well with AGX and gives a good drop. I really want a good drop since I really don't like stock hight.

I was looking at KTS coilovers, but figured it's going to be an overkill for me, so I decided to stick with shock/spring combo. I like whiteline because it looks like it performs well and gives a good drop. It's the most expensive BTW. Here's the info I got so far.

Suspension Techniques 1.3 - Can't find seller or priceRS*R Down 1.6 1.2 ($240 shipped) - on eBayTein S-Tech 1.5"/1.2" 207 Ibs/179 Ibs ($145 shipped) - on eBayEibach Prokit 1.8"/1.6" ($205 shipped) - on EbayWhiteline 1.6/1.8 PDM 157lbs/in (linear)/Rear 132-205 lbs/in (progressive) $259 - emailed PDM for shipping quote. Can't find seller other than PDM.

Looks like cars don't drop as their specs say. I really want to know if whiteline really gives 1.6"~1.8" drop. What do you think?

I had S13 Whiteline lowering springs with KYB AGX dampers for 2 years. To tell the truth, I wasn't very happy with the drop. It wasn't too noticeable from stock. As for durability, the springs rusted very poorly as I'm not sure if they are painted correctly. If I was going to do it over I would have spent the extra money and bought a nice coilover setup.

These are the pictures from PDM website. AGX with whiteline springs. I think the drop looks good.

BTW, they don't have whiteline springs in stock anymore. He told me that they've installed similar springs which are Eibach Sportlines on AGX and has had no problem so far. Should I get Sportlines for AGX? I know many people will not agree with that.

i dont plan on getting agx

basically i want a more aggressive ride and a slight drop for the time being until i can affordmy coilovers....and pay for customs to import em

So despite pdm's claim they will be fine on stock shocks....i shouldnt?

doesnt matter fi they are stiffer, lowering your car anymore than half an inch even can damage oem s13 struts. ive SEEN it happen, MANY times, lol. if this is stricly for looks, then kyb makes an oem replacement with gas struts. the gr2 are just slightly stiffer than stock and shoudl be able to support drops... just no spirited driving.
