Anybody know the difference in the front coils between a 97-98-99?

IOS says they are different numbers, so something must be diff....rate etc. But, they don't know. Mine is a 99 and I have a line on a set of 97's.

depending on whether you have a t or base model, you may have different rates due to the adjustable damping suspension. I'd line up a set for the 99 to be safe.

OK. I figured there was a diff in the touring model, I am trying to find out if the base model uses the same spring for all 3 years. I've received different opins from two different dealers. Thanks.

Why would you replace stock springs with stock springs? They seldom wear out.

They were broken when I bought the car. I have no idea how they got this way. Frankly, I am amazed at how good the car feels and handles considering the condition of the springs (not to mention the rest of the front end). Consequently, I can't wait to get the new parts installed and to experience the difference.

I already bought a set of stock springs from one of the other guys here on nico, but thanks for the offer.

I can't believe any spring is broken and the car is safe to drive.

Are you sure it is not something else that is worn?

Can you post a picture of your broken springs?

Yes. When it comes out I plan on taking pics and posting them here. It's almost impossible to see it now unless the car is up on the lift and you have excellent light. Even then, the break is on the back (toward the car centerline) of the spring very near the top. It's very easy however, to reach up and to feel the break. Hard to believe, but the ONLY thing which appears to be wrong with the car now, is the broken mount on the pax side. The mount makes a clunk sound when the car hits a pothole and is easy to see by raising the hood and pushing up and down on the car. The end of the strut is "loose" and movement is obvious. The drivers side does not exhibit this movement. On a flat fairly smoth road, the damage is not apparent.

At any rate, I got the car for a song, and even with the repairs I will still be well below book value for a car in fantastic (looking) shape with brand new tires and a reman front end.

It will probably be a few weeks before I can get this work done due to work requirements.
