Hey guys,

I have a 91 S13 that had shocks and struts replaced all around (Tokico HP's). My driver side front is lower than the other side...The springs are Eibach sportline's which are about 8 years old now...My question is why is one side lower than the other? The shocks are brand new, however, the springs are kinda old...I called Eibach the other day and they say that even if the springs are old they should never sag unless they are faulty in the beginning (which they weren't). My mechanic says that the spring is sagging but he isn't much of a performance mechanic and might not know about what eibach has told me...I don't know if they were installed wrong or the left and right sides were switched...Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks in advance for anybody who has any input on this...

Regards,

Kevin

weelll.. actually... if the springs are that old - and they've been on the car for that long.. and travelled. .let's say... 120,000 miles.. (15,000 * 8).. the spring might be worn?.. cause that's what happened to my friend's springs after like.. 6 years.. or something like that.. and especially since it's the drivers side.. maybe the previous owner was a.. bigger guy.. ??.. lol -... i'm prollie wrong.. but it's possible!?...

spring could have been installed wrong or shock is weak/blown.

I have prokits, and with one side installed upsidedown, it was definately lower than the other. Why was it upside down? well... oops?

You will visibly know if its installed upside down, and if the shock is bad that corner of the car will have more of a tendancy to bounce

i dont think the shock would make the car sag...it would definitly be noticable while driving, but i dont think it would have an affect on height, that would be the spring or some other suspension compenent, but, unless something feels really wrong on that end (either over bumps, or through a turn), i would say the spring. is this something that occured right after the install of new shocks?

Thanks guys...I did call Eibach and they say that even after 5 years that their spring will not sag...Now that I think about it, it could have been installed incorrectly...But my mechanic told me that I do need new ball joints and all but I don't think that it would affect the ride height...The shocks are brand new...Hopefully i didn't get a defective one...How can I tell if the spring is upside down? Thanks again everyone for all the replies...I really do appreciate it!!!

for any progressive rate spring the coils wind closer together near the top. what ever end is supposed to be the top will have the last 2-3 rows of coils much more closer together than the bottom.

________ top________________

________

________

________

________ bottom

get the idea?

don't worry about the shocks....they don't affect ride height at all...thats the spring's job
