Spring installation on '07 Sentra 2.0s

Talk about going broke, I just called several shops around my area and they are all averaging $360 for spring installations. And 1 recommended that I did an alignment 24 hrs after installation and the other wanted to do an alignment right after the installation. Doesn't it take at least a week to settle?

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone has done it themselves and know what are the torque settings for the springs and wheel lugs?

It takes a little while to settle, so I'd wait a few days before I got an alignment. Your alignment won't change much unless you're doing a HUGE drop, and only the front can be adjusted much anyway, so a few days driving around (don't push it to be safe) won't wear your tires enough to matter.

You can install them yourself fairly easily. Look up the torque specs for the strut tower bolts and lug nuts in the FSM (link in my signature). My guess is 75lbs for the lugs, not sure about the strut towers, though.

My guess is that it should take a couple of hours for an average DIY'er, less if you have experience.

Make sure to get the right type of spring compressor. I know Autozone rents them out for a $50 deposit that you get back when you turn it in (so the net result is $0).

I bring that up because I didn't pay attention when I did my springs/shocks and it was an icy day, which made for a harrowing trip in a buddy's mom's minivan... I was 17 at the time and very impatient about getting the job done.

Got the Eibach Pro's installed last night and the car feels so much better. It doesn't bounce like it did before and feels a lot more stable. The best part is that it did not sacrifice the comfort levels at all especially in NY roads which I think are probably the worst. In fact, I like the feel a lot better than the oem springs.

But I really can't make this statement official until I get my new wheels installed. I'm thinking of getting them done tonight. I'll post some pics after it's all done.

i have an 06 spec v and i have 18's on it but want to lower the car. where do i go to get it done? do dealerships do it?, what is the process in dropping a car?, what do i need to buy and who to put em on?

Any shop can do the work. What kind of drop/what to buy depends on how low you want it and what sort of tires you have on your 18"s (you want to avoid rubbing).

Take a look around the Sentra section, various setups have been discussed.

You're best bet is to call around your area and request estimates. A lot of the shops I called included an alignment in the pricing, but from what I've read, it's not a great idea to do the alignment right away since the springs aren't settled yet so don't let them force it on to you. I drove my car lightly for 4 days and then got the alignment at Sears (Only shop that was open on a Sunday).

FYI- I live in Hudson Valley, NY area and the average quote was about $340. I hope it's lower in your area. I ended up getting it done for $30 (price included beer, and dinner)

I lowered mine...and it was a pain to do the fronts. The struts needed to be "unthreaded" when they were compressed to fit into the spring. It took me almost 2 hours to do all 4 corners, the rear taking a whole 10 minutes.

hey guys i got the sportlines installed on my car and the drop makes a big difference. i really didnt think it would, but i did run into my share of errors, like the body dropping when i took the rear strut out, haha. well i will post some pics of the cars with before and after, just waiting for the rain to clear out of town and to wash it. so stay tuned
