I know this is in the wrong thread but we are stuck.....Got the strut off where do we go from there.Only bolt I see is on top of strut.Thought that if you remove that spring will shoot off if not compressed...The spring compressor we got, we can't figure out how to use wiht spring still on strut.Works fin on jsut the new spring.Bolt goes don middle of spring and has it compressed but what about the strut....Can't get it to fit when spring is on the strut.....

OK...so you've remove the three nuts on the strut tower (I'm assuming this is the front strut) and the two down at the steering knuckle, along with the brake lines hooked to the strut body.

Take one of these handy bastards:

And compress the spring enough that it's not going to go flying and put your eye out once you remove the nut on the strut piston. After that, you just remove the single nut on the top of the strut piston and remove the rubber upper mount, etc.

Just remember...always keep the compressed spring pointed away from you or anything else you don't want to possibly skewer. Torque specs are good too and I wouldn't reuse the nuts on the strut piston or the ones that connect the mount to the strut tower.

You got the wrong kind of spring compessors. You got the one that goes down in the middle, you need the kind like was posted above. Two separate units, position one on each side of the coil and compress them evenly. i.e. do one side a little, then the other. Take off the top nut, then the top plate. Repeat process to install new springs/struts.
