So after searching the forums and google for a good while I just couldn't figure it out. I have just received Tein S tech lowering springs for my 2.5 A/C and am wondering if they're the right ones. The package and the website says it will fit a 08+ altima coupe but doesn't specify 2.5 or 3.5? I called them (autoanything) and asked and they said they'd work. So basically I guess I am asking are the 2.5 and 3.5 springs the same? and if so what about the spring rates, because I assume the 3.5 has more weight?

Thanks in advance

They'll work, they don't make 2.5 specific springs.

How are they the same? 2.5 and 3.5 springs are different from what I've heard (oem and aftermarket). How does Tein make a one size fits all spring?

Well, let us know the results

The 3.5 is def heavier than the 2.5 If it does work and they do fit, I think your front will remain the same stock height..

Try to get the springs off someone from the forum and not ebay. Or get it new, that's your suspension and you don't want a half a** broken spring. :tisk:

This has been written up on several threads - the 3.5 and 2.5 strut assemblies are NOT the same, thus using different springs. Physically, the springs may look the same, but because of the weight distributions differing between the 2.5 and 3.5, the spring rates are different.

You can really throw some things out of whack not using the correct springs. The ride may be excessively stiff or could be not stiff enough (that's what she said), allowing for too much suspension travel, causing damage to the car in many different types of driving situations.

Don't pull the trigger on something that looks the part and has an attractive price - DO THE RESEARCH. It is better for your car and definitely better on your wallet in the long run. As far as researching springs, go to the manufacturers' website to get the proper fitment/specs. No vendor is going to know this information better than the manufacturer.

I emailed Tien USA a couple days ago asking if they were going to produce 2.5 springs and this is the email I received

Hello Geren,

Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

At this moment we unfortunately do not have any lowering springs for the 2.5 vehicle. The 3.5 springs that we manufacture have been tested on the 2.5 vehicle and only have about a few millimeters of difference in the front due to the heavier weight of the 3.5 compared to the 2.5. The 2.5 vehicle will sit a few MM above the 3.5 recommended drop height. It will be at your own discretion if your will like to use the springs on your vehicle as we do not manufacture them for the 2.5 models.

If you should have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

Best Regards,

Thats a little irresponsible on Teins behalf. They shouldn't be selling springs that are not designed for your car even if its a similar base model. Thats like saying
"I need an 18'' tire"
"Well we have a 16'' tire. Its a different size but your car will still drive."

I wouldn't do it.

Oh I know that's why I posted it! Thought that was weird because he never said that I shouldn't use them

Glad I didn't end up putting them on :tisk: but it is my fault for not doing the proper research. I just took the vendor's word for it, lesson learned! Eibachs will be here Friday and hopefully installed Monday...

...then pretend that none of this ever happened :yesnod

haha called outtt  I mean coming as close as I did to wasting lots of monies and wasting time due to lack of research. Woulda felt real dumb posting on here asking why the front didn't drop at all then finding out the mistake.

Thats why Nico RULES! You guys save my a** all the time :woot:
