Hey all,

Not new to forums, just here. My step son has the car, just no Internet right now to research.

I downloaded the manual, but cannot find the part number for where the leak is happening. He says it's where the oil filter connects. The more he messed with it by feeling around, the more oil sprays out. The manual shows the part in the Engine section, but doesn't give the part number.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Robb

Is there a possibility there's just a bad seal between the filter and the mounting block?

If so, the fix (new oil filter) is easy and cheap.

I'd want to eliminate that first.

After that, this would be my next task: http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-15239-53F ... _7744.html

I can't imagine it being the actual filter block (part #15238-53F00), but here's a picture of the entire assembly to help you/him diagnose where the issue is:

Thank you for the quick reply and diagram! I guess I didn't know where to look in the manual.

He replaced the filter immediately after seeing the puddle under his car, still has squirting. I also can't imagine it's the filter block as that is solid. I'll direct him to the gasket...

Is the pressure sensor in that general location as well? If yes, it may have corroded(?).

Thanks again!

Pressure sensor is close to that area, but not quite. It's a pretty simple threaded fitting, and not subject to "squirting" unless it's completely falling out of the block. :)

Making sure the four bolts are snug (not over-torqued) would be my next step.

Your picture doesn't show 1 component (very well) that his engine has, it IS shown on the PDF manual I downloaded off this site, page EM-6, the pressure switch off the bottom (just below the filter connecting point) or some other something. He's able to pull gasket material off/out of it right now.

I did find a picture somewhere that showed it as part number 15238J, but I can't figure out how to post a picture right now. Must be I have to use instagram or something... no uploads from my HD.

Thanks again!
Robb

Edit: to be clear, that fitting below where the filter connects is where the oil is spurting from.

Cool - should be a simple fix then... if gasket material is removable, someone didn't install something properly.

Correct, pics need to be hosted someplace, then they can be loaded in your post.

Yes, looking like $25 at stealership, so I know I can get the pressure switch for less elsewhere.

Appreciate your help!
