Was wondering what the best type of spray tint everyone would suggest to get a glossy finish on the taillights? I hear a lot of talk about the VHT Nite-Shades but it looks like it dries pretty matte.

i did the crap from autozone. the tail light tint. It looks good but it is more matte than the advertised gloss though. I tried doing a clear coat on top but it looked like some one splooged on it so i just re-did it and put 3 coats of tint on it. I would just get the overlays, they look better.

The VHT stuff works pretty good, if you get it on there right. I had done it before with a clear coat on it, and it didn't look too bad, but after 1.5 years the clear coat was coming off. So I took it all off, re-painted them with just the VHT, and polished them up with some polishing compound. Now they're nice and shiny and look better than before. I can put up some pics if you wanna see. I'm sure others here have used the same stuff as well with different results.

I used LBC's tail light vinyl tint and it's pretty glossy. Just a lot of work to get it on. But it's the easiest to take off.

True, I'm gonna grab my tires soon and put the new rims on to see how they look and decide if I wanna do everything matte or stay glossy. Did you get the pics I sent you?

I had a buddy of mine do mine and he just put a few drops of black in some clear coat and sprayed lights multiple times in layers

I also used Rusto. One coat, no sanding, no clear. Quite glossy.

Dam thats with only 1 coat? Looks nice though I'm probably gonna go with that. How well do the brake lights show through?

Let me rephrase...its one DRYING coat. I layered a few times over to really even out the coverage. Daytime driving is a little sketchy if its sunny, night time is no worries at all. I actually purchased LED tails to replace them because I couldnt handle driving home from work anymore trying to switch lanes on the highway and no one knowing I was doing so.

Night time pic, running light only, no brake applied

Ah arite. Where did you get it? I checked their online retailers but none of them carry the tint.

What kind of polishing coumpound u guys reccommend, I got vht and it looked really blotchy and i degreased it well b4 i sprayed it on, but i nvr tried to polish it. I ultimatly took 2000 grit to it and got rid of it. I just didnt have the time to perfect it but im willing to try again.
