What should it cost for a good shop to throw in a spot welding job in the engine compartment while the motor is already out? This for an s14. I'm thinking around 5hrs of additional labor for a solid job but I just not sure. Help me out so I know if they're trying to shaft me when I bring up the idea. Thanks

anybody? I hope I am refering to it correctly. I'm talking about the welding done to strut towers, frame rails, etc. that adds rigidity to the chassis. I guess I should ask how long it would take as opposed to how much it should cost as hourly rates vary. Also, are there any known weak spots in the s14 engine compartment that I should put at the top of the list of areas to be welded? Thanks

Could be done pretty fast if engine is out as you say. paint and epoxy will have to be removed from the seams you want stitched... this takes the longest. If you do this ahead of time you will save for sure. The welding takes like 2hr in the bay, we use TIG but its pretty fast usually. Most shops will charge $200-300
