I'm very close to picking up a new set of wheels but have some important questions to ask before I do so. Hopefully nothing too noobish, but all this offset, width, and such has got me paranoid.

The wheels that my local shop has suggested to me are sized:

Sportmax 962---17X7 +40 (front)17X9 +35 (rear)

--

Now I'm reading when I search that the 17X7's are not going to make me happy. And staggering them like that will give me some understeer.

Well! My alternative of course would be to run 17X9 +35 on the front and rear, right? My main concern is - Will this fit?! - I have a 1995 240SX LE with stock suspension but I would like to eventually drop my car with a simple spring shock combination.

I just want the best fitment, without sunken in rimsm (but I am not some flushness whore like some of these guys seemt to be), that will be compatible with my future plans. (Obviously "best fitment" is subjective, we're talking best fit in terms of this style of wheel!)

they will fit in the rear no problem...

Up front you will need 5 or 10mm spacers or they will hit the struts, I forget which is the minimum... hopefully someone chimes in with this setup.

I'm going crazy trying to find a low offset -- affordable -- and nice looking wheel! Looks like I may have to look into running spacers if that is the case.

look on classifieds on here and zilvia... good offsets at decent prices... but usually 5lug is needed.
