Steering on my hatch was really loose when I first bought it, good half-second delay between turning the wheel and the car actually moving in that direction...
Can't comment on the KYB stuff as I still have stock suspension, but check the bushings on your tension rods. If you see cracked rubber and any oil leakage (I am thinking maybe the right one is cracked) then its a good idea to replace them. Not a whole lot of danger from what I hear on driving on bad tension rod bushings, if they totally blow then I think on accelaration the tire comes back far enough to hit the firewall, but don't quote me on that.
I bought Tein tension rods, pretty solid, but they were almost $300. You can find Battle Version for around $220, or Megan's for $120, easy install too, just need to have a breaker bar in case any of the nuts are stuck. There are two on the LCA? and one on the end connected to the front brace. The write-up on here is for a Nismo tension rod with a rubber bushing, which is definitely softer as far as handling, and you will feel more pronounced bumps in the road with "spherical bearings" more so than rubber, but the spherical last forever, but then again, maybe that doesn't matter on cars that are gonna be 20 years old pretty soon.
