First, I've been around these forums for quite some time just reading everything you guys have posted and it's been great. Well I've finally had an issue that I need to get answered. My blower switch, when I first start the car, sometimes will not work on any speed. I know the resistor is usually the culprit on speeds 1-3, but there is nothing on any. After a few min to possibly 10 min, the blower will suddenly turn on. Should I assume it's probably the blower motor itself going bad? Thanx guys!

If the speed-adjustment works, I'd suspect the motor before the resistor. Kinda hard to diagnose without getting in there with a multimeter, though. You can always try testing voltage to the motor right after startup to see if anything looks fishy.

Have you tried smacking the passenger side dash when it won't turn on?

If smacking the dash works, you may need to lubricate or replace the blower motor.

I'm currently dealing with a similar situation. I had similar symptoms but noticed that if I switch the inlet port back and forth a few times it'd kick on. This obviously wasn't the solution and I eventually broke something in the controls for the inlet port which will have to be dealt with.

Any how I removed the glove box and pulled the blower motor out. I checked the cable and it had 12 volts when I turned the fan switch on. I then hooked the blower motor directly to a 12 volt source and it did nothing. I went ahead and ordered a used one on ebay ($50 vs. $150) which should be arriving soon. Hopefully that will fix it. I'll let you know of my results after I get it.

Got home today to find my blower motor had arrived. Popped it in real quick and I'm cool as ice again!

Are there any detailed instructions anywhere that I can follow to change the blower out? What I am reading does not sound like "real quick" or easy ????

This will by my first repair other than changing the headlight bulbs which I had to read online how to do...tht dreaded little latch!!

My dad says he will help me if I find instructiosn for him since it is a Nissan and not a Ford LOL

I don't own a Versa, but it does look like blower motor replacement requires removal of a lot of the center dash trim in your case.

You can get instructions on how to remove the dash pieces from the factory service manual, which you can find here:
2008 Nissan Versa FSM
Here's the HVAC section which includes detail on the Blower Motor itself.
And here's the Instrument Panel section specifically with an exploded diagram of the dash.

Those should help you get things taken apart and put back together!
