why should anyone sponsor you? what do YOU bring to the table thats different than the next guy? why doesnt he deserve it too? see my point? getting and KEEPING a sponsor is all about doing something different and BETTER than the next guy. someone in the middle of the pack at your local amatuer events probably isnt gonna have any sponsors. but the guys who win on a consistent basis, or are always placing high, or have an AMAZING car and do well driving, those are the ones that get sponsorships. NOTHING in the automotive world is free and i can guarantee those guys who are local amateurs and do have sponsors have spent more money out of their own pockets than you can even understand.
a sponsorship is a business RELATIONSHIP, in turn for parts/money/whatever, a company gets advertising. why the hell would a corporation give someone free stuff when they have never won a competition, dont have a built car, and have virtually NO experience drifting? what is that going to do to HELP the company?
dont drift expecting to get ANY sponsors. it takes a long time to get to the level where people want to sponsor you. most drivers will never make it because they arent willing to make the sacrifices required to do it. im sorry but the truth hurts man.
spoken true.. im gonna back u up and be the bigger ******* and point out something else..if u wanna get into drifting to be sponsored and be a pro and blah blah blah.. u arent gonna get any respect out of the real drifters.. trying to go that route is retarded.. all the guys u see who are pro drifting are just doing what they loved to do before there were sponsor ships they arent trying to dominate a motorsport..
now take rhys millen and sam hubinette who came in bringing factory backing and all that **** who have been dominating drifting.. they get no respect from the other drifters nor most of the fans who know what drifting is about.. they never came from our grassroots stage and did it just cause it was fun.. they saw some sport to try to capitalize on and took it. as a result they are looked down on believe it or not.. do u really wanna be in that crowd? cheered when u loose a battle and booed if u win.. kinda takes the fun out of it when the people watching u try to take away from everything u do...
**** the crowds or the competition.. just get in your car go to practice events and drift.. if someone sees what u got and wants to sponsor u they will.. and if they do it will be cheaper for you to drift.. thats just an added bonus.. not the reason to do it.
