Plan to do alot of 75+ MPR Interstate driving this summer...was wondering if the oem spoiler would help keep my car a little bit steady around trucks and such?Looks cool ......

Lol, no. If you want steady get a strut bar or lowering springs ect.

Spoilers in general are mostly for looks and/or are not effective until over 100 mph. As high as the V rides, a spoiler, even a functional one, won't make much difference. The OEM spoiler might even add drag, which will impact your fuel economy. Lowering might help stability some. Wider wheels, better and wider tires to match the wheels will increase traction and track which will make the car more stable.

Strut bar wont't make any difference in highway stability where the road is mostly straight and the turns are gradual. Tight canyon twisties and auto-x is where the strut bar makes a difference. Since bars don't cost that much, if you're going to do wheels and springs... you might as well.

Actually, on hatchback cars like the Versa, an upper rear spoiler can make a difference at even low speeds. A problem you run into with all vertical-backed vehicles, from SUVs to pickups to hatchbacks, is that you get some goofy aerodynamics going on. Those are the same aerodynamics that are responsible for making rear wipers more of a necessity on those cars than on cars with more angled rears.

The shape at the back of the hatchback V leads to not-so-aerodynamic turbulence as air curls back under and in TOWARD the car. This creates drag. (Properly designed) spoilers at the rear of the roof can help minimize the turbulence and drag. They also help keep the rear window cleaner.

Not sure how much difference it makes as far as stability, but just because it's not actively producing usable downforce doesn't mean it's not providing some benefits.

When you have actual wind tunnel data to support it in the case of the Versa and OEM spoiler I'll believe it. On a low cost product like the V, I doubt the Nissan engineers went through that much trouble. On the GT-R, certainly. In fact, 2 years of win tunnel development for that.

[/quote]And it doesn't mean you can say confidently that it does in fact provide benefits. Pure speculation either way. Since wind tunnel testing is very expensive, I think it's safer to assume there aren't any benefits. Besides, a spoiler isn't going to keep the V from being blown all over the place by a Freightliner. Controlling airflow under the car makes a bigger difference.
