just kidding

personally I don't like spoilers, I think they usually make a car look less clean but sometimes I feel that I don't get enough traction in the rear. This is noticeable when I do a daily down hill run from and to school. It feels that the rear is not holding down securely. I don't think it's my shocks or tires. I think it COULD be the lack of a proper spoiler and I am driving way too fast, about 80 to 100mph usually.

I was looking around on ebay and I found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33638

just look at the style, shape and its aero dynamic property. I think it looks like it will really push the car down. Nevermind the carbon fiber... I am looking for something cheaper.'

what do ou guys think?

not bad, id probably put it on my car, if it truely helped with aerodynamics.

but i think youre driving much too fast on public roads.

well for a wing to work properlly, the shape of the cross section and angle of attack to the wind must be correct to get propper downforce. If not, it will be mainly cosmetic and may hurt your current ratio of the drag on a body moving through air to the product of the velocity and the surface area of the body. (coefficient of drag)

Well said. That first wing looks hideous, btw.

haha

when i first opened the post and saw that HUGE aluminum wing I was gonna rush to the quick reply box and call you a ricer...but then i was smart and read the rest.

I really dig the wing you linked to, flows real smooth on the car and looks like it would provide some downforce.

looks good. . .but i believe those are the drag wings. Probably work just as good, but thats what i see alot on imports at the strip. But yeah, it could be used in the same way goin through a turn if you think about it.

I dont really agree with that one. Having that type of wing on a drag racer works because air flows from front to back and over the cross section of the wing.

But going around corners is a different thing. Take a look at rally cars. Espercially the STi adn EVOs. Their wings have vertical slats that keep the downforce down while the car is sideways around a corner.

here's more information that I can digest in one reading

I checked phase 2, heavythrottle, spl parts, enjuku but I haven't found something like the one I saw on ebay

carbon fiber is nice and all but it kind of gives into the rice factor and I woudl be crying if I wake up to see it ripped ooff of my trunk one morning

Here is a K's spoiler...I like them (you have seen my ride Loveless, you should know this!)

Personally, if I had an S13 coupe, I would go with the R32 wing...looks nice.

i like wings that flow good, even touring wings...some drift cars have wings i like but i dont know how good theyd work for grip

i like this wing, the way the peds are shaped, but ive seen this wing on an s13 and it looks like it dwarfs it, for some reason it doesnt look nearly as out of proportion on the s14

It's probably already been said, but you're not gonna find much that'll really create any useful downforce at sub-100mph speeds.

Better to address suspension issues, and spend that $ on tires.

I can guarantee you that if the rear feels "loose", it can be rectified with the right suspension adjustments and good tires.

Id go with hit man on this...also looking areo dinamic and being are way different, even if it did produce insane amount of down force, what does the stream of air coming off the back of a 240 look like? i sure dunno do you? Id say to have a wing that was more then placebo it would be much money in a quality wing, and much money getting it set up....I remeber a WHILE back some of the mods were disscusing this with either a nother mod or a well respected member, who was making the same claim as you, and final answere was give up on the wing gain would be worth costs, and that a lip to keep some of that air out from under would be more practicle to keep the rear settled...

yeah i remember that too......

the wind on a hatch i know comes straiht off the hatch...like the wing has to be teh highest point on the car

Here is that original Carbon fiber wing made by C-West

And here is the knock-off from importfan (C-Wings)

I wanted one of these so bad for my civic I did some major research on it. Everything is carbon fiber, except teh bolts used. Costs a ****load of money also because of R&D.

The thing is... wings like that are really the most effective if designed right, and designed specifically for each vehicle... Look at GT cars and whatnot... thats where rice got its origin really... Its a shame we can't go and buy a functioning wing out of fear of being called a ricer... Die Honda owners!

the thing is rice is in the eyes of the beholder. Do you think "ricers" give a damn what we think? If you think it's cool or improves performance, there's hardly not a damn thing anyone else can say to change your mind. Have you ever done anything to your car, and after driving it you swear it's moving faster? Then you find out you actually lost HP or TQ with your most recent mod. But, you don't car what they say or the dyno sheets they have.... you just know you improved because your arse dyno and your ears tell you so.

What I'm saying is that if you want a big GT wing to provide Uber downforce, get the damn thing. Even if it's hurting your performace and you don't know it, If people pull up and snicker/point fingers, take pictures of your ride, just know that you can blow their doors off because of you recent mod.

Case in point, I saw this at work one day. Go figure......
